Calexico started as a street cart in 2006, and has been serving award-winning Cal-Mex cuisine in New York City ever since. Founded by 3 brothers from the border town of Calexico, California (California + Mexico = Calexico), the Greenpoint outpost serves elevated West Coast-style Mexican food and cocktails in a beautiful space on the corner of Bedford and Manhattan Ave. The vibe is relaxed and fun, with an eclectic soundtrack that leans toward 60’s garage rock and vintage punk. On weekends, Calexico serves what many consider to be the best Mexican brunch in New York City. Calexico has won a good deal of recognition, including being voted the Top Mexican Restaurant in New York City by the readers of Zagat.

Big Marvel and Chicken
We had the fried chicken burrito, shrimp taco, barbacoa taco and the salsa and nachos. The food was flavored to perfection and the portion sizes were great. We also tried the churros for dessert and they were equally as amazing. Not too sweet and went perfectly with the Nutella dip. Also, 10/10 service, the servers were super attentive and so welcoming!!! I cannot recommend this place enough!

Calexico is convenient, consistent and has become a go to for my friends and I. The food is quick and tasty, the staff is always so nice, and the portion size for the price is incredible. We love the queso dip, chips and salsa, burritos and burrito bowls. They also have a great brunch deal where you get 2 for 1 drink specials! We each got an entree, 2 brunch drinks, and 2 apps – split the bill evenly between 6 of us and the bill came out to around $32pp (pre tip) Love this place!

Loved the happy hour, 2for1 margaritas is always a Top tier, and the bloody Mary’s are so freaking good! Just missing the bacon!!! The shrimp taco is really good flavorful and enticing! (Pricey but worth it). Nachos were ok not great.

Cute Lil spot with really good food. It was fresh and delicious. The server brought out a meat filled taco instead of black bean on accident and she threw in a side of fresh guac and chips for me to munch on. Very kind staff. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but this place was extremely disappointing. I was shocked to see that other reviews had high praise because this felt like a step below Chipotle. As soon as my girlfriend and I sat down and heard the music we were instantly worried. The food had zero flavor and everything seemed like it had just been frozen. Someone at the table next to us sent something back as well. There was nothing wrong with the service or staff but the quality and vibe here were NOT IT 🙁

Great food! We loved the quesadillas, both the chicken and the pork! The enchiladas were also very fresh and the beans were delicious. The tacos were also amazing and flavorful especially the Baja fish and the pulled pork. The margaritas were also great! The service was friendly and the atmosphere was great! We will be back !!

There is outdoor seating and the food is brought out to you. The cashier was really nice and helpful too. I would come back and eat here and recommend others as well.
