The food here is fantastic! We ordered the goat curry, which was phenomenal and the whole snapper which was also amazing. Side of garlic kale and rice and beans, both wonderful. We also got complementary soups which was delicious. Place is nice and open and service was good. Definitely going back to try more dishes!

Amazing high end dining experience here. Ordered the oxtail and Caribbean fried chicken, great combo. Also married it to the virgin pineapple ginger juice. Also had one of the best red pea soups in my life here. Can’t afford it every day but was worth bringing my girl here.

Came here for a 2nd visit. The bar tender was outstanding, and ordered the jerk chicken with a side of rasta pasta. Simply sublime. Couldn’t make it on vacation this year, but this food took me away. They just earned a repeat customer.

PS You must try the complimentary soup. Nothing like it.

What a beautiful restaurant! I am so proud that there’s an upscale Caribbean restaurant in Sacramento! The food was authentic Jamaican food, and the presentation of the meals 10/10! Ordered the goat curry with plantain. The waiter was funny and patient.

So excited to try a new Caribbean spot in Sacramento! The red bean soup, oxtails, rice and peas and smashed potatoes were delicious! The goat stew was very salty but it could’ve just been the batch that day, will try it again. The drinks were alcohol free but very refreshing! The atmosphere was clean, open and relaxing with nice o music playing in background. Please dont go anywhere Calabash!

Honestly the worst $97 I’ve ever spent. The food was terrible with skimpy portions. the jerk chicken was something you’d get from Buffalo Wild Wings or wings stop. No flavor at all. They sell tilapia and serve it as seas bass, curry chicken and oxtails had no flavor as well. I recommend going to dubplate or rockyaad if you plan on eating any of the dishes I had. The customer service was AWFUL. The two fellas on the floor had terrible attitudes like they didn’t want to work that day. Told me that me and my family had to sit outside in the back even though the place was empty when I arrive. After 15 minutes of standing I asked if I can sit at the bar until the table was ready. After a whole hour I asked to put my order in so we can eat shortly after the table was ready. Another hour passed and he asked if I wanted to take my order to go because the table still wasn’t ready For some reason. I left and had to come back because they forgot my chicken wings. Instead of walking back through the front door I enter through the back and seen that they had PLENTY of empty tables with a few people seated with no issues. I was shocked but still kept my cool. The guy who told me my table wasn’t ready looked shook when he seen me return from the back area cause he knew he was caught lying. I politely told the other brother that he forgot my chicken. No apology or anything and acted like I was bothering him or something. Couldn’t even look me in the eyes when handing me my food he forgot. The worst experience I’ve ever had from a black owned business. I still can’t believe it.

My Experience at Calabash
I recently visited Calabash after winning an Instagram contest for this new restaurant. It’s in a great spot, right on the corner of Del Paso Boulevard and Arden Way in the Del Paso Heights area. I’m excited to see what this place becomes.
When I walked in, the staff greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome right away. Thanks to the contest, I could pick anything from the menu, so I chose the oxtail with mac and cheese. While I waited, I tried their island punch. At the moment, they don’t serve alcohol because they’re still waiting for their liquor license.
The host was kind enough to give our small group a tour of the restaurant. I heard they plan to offer brunch soon and maybe even open a pizzeria in the future.
If you haven’t heard about Calabash or stopped by yet, you’re missing out. The oxtails were very savory, with a perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The mac and cheese was baked just right, with a little char on top for texture—very buttery and cheesy.
I can’t wait to go back and try more, especially the appetizers and desserts. I’m also looking forward to when they start serving drinks. The restaurant has only been open for a little over a month. When I visited at 8:00 p.m., it was quiet, which I enjoyed since they said it had been a busy day.
If you’re interested in island or Caribbean food, check out their menu online—they even serve goat dishes. I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Calabash is an absolute gem on Del Paso. The food is packed with rich Caribbean flavor, the music creates the perfect vibe, and the service is warm, welcoming, and top tier. It feels like home the moment you walk in. This family-owned spot elevates the entire neighborhood. Highly recommend.

Party of five. We tried several dishes, including jerk chicken wings, brown chicken stew,,oxtail stew all of which were absolutely flavorful. The feel of home cooked came through in the way the spices suffused the sauces and meat all cooked to perfection. The sides of Red beans and rice, plantains, complimented the main courses.Kale with garlic is a must . We topped off the dinner with tropical drinks. Will definitely be returning.

A must try! I came here with a large group to celebrate my birthday and it exceeded all my expectations. The space is very aesthetic, the service was great, and most importantly every single dish ordered by our party of 15+ was enjoyed. The food was so good I’m already wanting to go back!

They also have a super nice outdoor (but covered) space for hosting large events.
