Cajun Fish Grill is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of the rich culinary heritage of the South. Nestled in the heart of McKinney, TX, our establishment brings together the irresistible flavors of French cuisine with the fiery zest of Louisiana, resulting in a dining experience that is both bold and flavorful.

Delicious date night! I had a hankering and Cajun Fish Grill had incredible reviews, so we popped in for a Saturday night dinner. It was one of the better etouffee dishes I’ve had in a while. This spot is tucked in a cozy corner off of El Dorado, the service was top notch and the food hit the spot. We both ordered the Cajun Tricky Fish dish, which had blackened catfish on top of white rice and covered with crawfish etouffee. Such a treat to have truly seasoned food! Yummy. To finish our dinner we shared the bread pudding dessert which was warm, perfectly layered, sweet creamy goodness. 10/10

Overall the food was very good. I actually really liked the cajun crawfish chowder but it was a little too spicy for me with a fair bit of black pepper. They were so kind and swapped it out for clam chowder and that was excellent! I’m very appreciative for the kindness. We got the Cajun pasta Alfredo and the catfish and shrimp basket. all of it was cooked super well. Very flavorful and tasty. Overall I’d recommend them simply on taste and service. Love to support local and this is a win.

Decided to try a new spot. Cajun cuisine is close to my heart. This place is nice and clean. Chill atmosphere. Great customer service. I felt welcomed. Good variety of food. A place worth trying for yourself. This is what I tried:
Crab boil: 7/10 nice juicy pieces of crab. The corn was sweet but a bit over cooked. The potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer. The sauce was good but needs more of a balance in flavor and some depth from the soul. My personal favorite profile is sweet and spicy with a good hint of lemon…. This could have been better.
Fried okra: 7/10 cooked well. Missing some seasoning.
Red beans and rice: 7/10 cooked well. Flavor was ok. Seems a bit oniony but creamy.
Fried catfish: 10/10 well cooked, flavor on point, added cajun flavor as an option. Fish was fresh and flaky. I would come back for this.
Hush puppies: 10/10 sweet, fluffy, actual pieces of corn inside, well cooked, flavorful.
Key lime pie: 10/10 well balanced, not too citrusy, creamy, nor too sweet, perfect pie.
Tartar sauce: I believe this is made in house…. Not sure but it tastes like it. It has the right flavor, consistency, thickness. I always prefer made in house or close to it.
Cocktail sauce: this may be made in house.. not sure but it tastes like it. A bit sweet and savory.

This is a hidden gem in McKinney! I’ve never written a 5-star review before I even finished my meal – they’re that good!
My wife and I ordered a grilled tilapia plate and a Cajun Past Alfredo. The portions were generous for the price. Importantly, unlike many Cajun restaurants, their fish wasn’t over seasoned. The seasoning was excellent, enhancing the fish flavor without overpowering it. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes.

Found this place by a coupon that came in my mailbox. The interior is large with high ceilings, which is nice if you don’t like to feel cramped in a small space. They also provide outdoor seating with a covered roof.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. And there was no lines up on arrival. There is fresh lemonade and sweet/unsweetened tea on tap, as well as a soda fountain. I chose the sweet/unsweet tea. It was delicious! Normally when I get teas from tap, the water in it has a funky aftertaste. So I’m really impressed!
The pricing is a little more than, say an applebees or a chain sit down restaurant. However, my food was delicious, hot, and well cooked. The fish was flavorful, and well seasoned with the lemon and garlic butter provided. The rice and beans had great flavors. Smokey and almost faintly barbecued? And a little kick at the end. It came with a sprinkle of green onions on top.
The zucchini was well cooked, not too slimy, just the right amount of crispness.
The only bad things I could think of, was finding a couple of bones in the fish, and the pricing was a little more than I normally would go for.
Overall I had a great meal, and recommend trying! If you are looking for a hole-in-the-wall with tasty homemade cape-bar style food, try here!

The gumbo was horrible. Clearly not freshly made, it tasted like cornstarch and sadness. Poboy was super tiny. Less than 6 inches, yet still cut in half. The serving size was stingy and the shrimp were frozen battered. I’ll give them an extra star since the bread was the correct type, and the oysters were well done.

We had the fried catfish, shrimp and clams. We got it spicy cause that’s how we roll. The fried batter was light and crispy. The portion sizes were large. The spicy-ness was just right. Enough that we could taste it but not overpowering. Staff provided extra cups of Cajun sauce on request. (We like it spicy). The sides were great too. We got some banana pudding, on a whim, and it was great! With fresh banana slices, crispy vanilla wafers and whip cream on top. We had this order to go and it was completed in about 10 minutes and packed nicely. Staff was friendly and polite. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. We were attending an event at the football stadium down the street. This was close by and we had a craving for some seafood. Will definitely come back the next time we’re in the area.

The customer service was top notch! We were greeted with a smile! I ordered fried catfish and had one Cajun and one with regular seasoning. Both pieces of fish exceeded my expectations! The flavor profile was on point! I will be a returning customer

We were looking for some good catfish one Sunday and I think we found the right place. The first time was a few weeks ago and the fried catfish and catfish poboys were amazing. The strawberry lemonade is a 10 too. However, we went back a second time and I got catfish and shrimp last week and it wasnt as good. Something about the batter on the fish was different from the first time. I hope this was just a one off. The first time the batter was light and flacky. Just how I like it. But this time it was thicker and they used the same batter on the shrimp so I tasted mostly the batter with the shrimp and I prefer whole not butterflied shrimp. I’ll give the catfish another try because I’m really hoping it’ll be like the first time but I like consistency!
Also, I love the music and great customer service but it was a little dark inside. I may also try the gumbo and ettoufee next time but I’m really ticky about my cajun food. Hard to beat New Orleans/Lafayette cajun food.
