This was my first visit to Caffetteria Modern Cafe & Market in Kansas City, and I wish I lived closer because I would be a regular. I went for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised to see a half sandwich and salad combo for $15. I ordered the 1/2 turkey avocado sandwich with the Adam and Eve salad. At first, I worried the portions might not be filling enough, but once the food arrived I was thrilled. The serving size was generous and both the sandwich and salad were absolutely delicious.
Instead of a server here, you just go up to the register and order then they will bring your food over to your table.
I also loved the corner of the cafe stocked with grab-and-go items and fun kitchen trinkets. Overall, such a great spot and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

Excellent food. Meatballs are a great deal, 3 for $6. Very large portion. The chicken sandwich with apples was excellent. Great cobb salad. The menu doesn’t list the prices. The dining area was dirty and could not find a clean table.

Service is really poor. Food is sub par and very inconsistent. Where do I begin. I have gotten food from here several times out of convenience. Jokes on me because it’s never convenient. They cannot get a take out order correct which prompts calling for a refund or driving back to get the correct food that I ordered. My order is 2-3 items at most and is not complicated so I don’t understand how you forget an item or mess it up. Overall it’s not worth the headache. I’m not writing this off of one experience mind you, this is based off of several. Mind you it’s my problem at this point because I keep giving them multiple chances but have finally had the last straw. There are better places for food in Prairie Village that are more consistent.

There is one private room with TV that can be used for meeting with the certain minimum food spend for your meeting.

I ordered a bowl of soup ($10) to go. Brought it home and it didn’t even fill up half of a normal sized bowl. I called the store, thinking they gave me a cup size by mistake, but was told that I received correct order. And since it was ordered online through Door Dash, they said there was nothing they could do.

This beautiful eatery is worthy of all the hype. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is one of a kind! Although most people might consider it a lunch spot I’ve been multiple times for dinner and it’s been delightful and affordable. Huge selection of pizzas, salads, sandwiches and bakery items. The stubborn soda machine is so good, don’t skip it!

What a great find. We were headed somewhere else and ended up here. I’m so glad we did. Owner/manager very engaged and hands on. Food was a bit pricey; however once it came out the portions support what we paid. The hummus appetizer was full of fresh veggies and crackers. I had the turkey sandwich and asked to change the bread-no issue. The homemade chips were a real treat. Hubby had the steak with chimichurri sauce and brussel sprouts. Again delicious. Can’t wait to go back and try the baked items. We thoroughly enjoyed the vibe, the food and the service. They also have a few gift items if you’re looking for something different.

Caffetteria has been delicious since the day it opened. They are constantly rotating fresh flavors and using local ingredients. They have the BEST salmon in the city, seriously. The prices may seem high but consider that you are paying for quality, local ingredients and also a working environment which takes care of their employees. I love a quick lunch (Adam and even with salmon is my go to) and a sweet treat from here on my days off and love a take home meal I can heat up in the oven when I AM working. The seasonal fun gift items are so fun to look through. They also have the best hummus and pimento cheese. Don’t sleep on the homemade crackers either!
We often come here for breakfast as well and love the burrito, sando, and the veggie hash.
