Upfront: I did not know what was here before, so I am not comparing to the previous tenant because I don’t think that is fair.

I love the vibe here. The seating options, the sofas, the large table, there is a seat for whatever type of mood you are in. I thought the menu was just fine. I love that they have lotus in the can that they will mix flavors in for you.

I ordered the Lox bagel and it came out like a sandwich and the barista apologized but it didn’t matter to me 🙂 It still had all the. components and it tasted great. My little dude ordered a breakfast bagel and he loved it. Ate every last bite!

We enjoyed the sun coming thru the big windows as we ate our breakfast on the couch. This is a special little spot. Would also be great to get some work done at.

This cafe is in Boise’s Linen district, a block from Rediscovered Books, an art gallery, and next to a tattoo shop. The perfect place to get a bit of work done before meeting my friends to walk down to The Modern for a drink.

I ordered a London Fog and it was made perfectly. I like the communal center table that let’s people spread out or share space. There was several little conversations going – girl friends catching up – but the space has plenty of corner and cozy spots for private conversations.

I may have found my new go to spot!

Love the coffe, people, service and atmosphere. So much so it is my go to spot on a weekly basis but it saddens me to see they loyalty program wrecked. The program is now cumbersome, super low return and the employees hate it too. Sadly I’ll work in other places where the normal 8 to 10 drinks means a reward like bringing a new person to the place to enjoy a drink. The product and service is top notch, the rewards program is now out of sync with the rest of the experience.

I just stopped by to check out this local owned coffee shop in the late morning. There was two clients working on their laptops and it was pretty quiet. The lady behind the counter answered most of my questions of what she knew of the history of the business. She did not know a lot and they took over this place about 6 months ago so they are still working out the kinks. Its decor is very old style and I liked the feeling of of this establishment and hope that can keep it open.

Update: 8 months later things are turning up for Caffenia Kitchen. The good has taken on its own story and the atmosphere and service has improved quite a bit. It’s not the Big City that we knew and loved, but it’s definitely something new to enjoy all it’s own. Loving the summer drinks and open patio in the morning.

I’m sure it’s an adjustment period, with the construction, and people are still mourning the loss of Big City, but it feels so bare here. The kitschy and homey feel is gone. The bakery cabinet has a scant sprinkling of offerings compared to what used to be previously. Im sure that’s because the customers aren’t showing up with everything going on.

I didn’t eat, so I can’t speak for the food, but there isn’t even a drink menu to look at, just a list of flavors taped to the register. My latte was “ehhhh.”

I’ve heard so many good things about the other locations that I want to give it another chance after the construction is done, but right now, I’m sitting in an empty coffee shop. I’ve seen 2 other customers in the last hour. I wish them the best and hope it gets better, but right now, it’s a pass for me.

For those who want a place to hang out the State street location may be the place. For those who want fresh food cooked to order Caffeina Kitchen on Grove IS the place. Yum!! Chocolate Mocha smoothie is heavenly!!

I had high hopes for this location but was very disappointed. They have severely scaled back the menu to less than half of what it was originally and very few baked goods. The food was average at best. There was only one employee to act as cashier, barista and server. The atmosphere is very comfortable and inviting so if you are looking for someplace to grab coffee, catch up with friends or get some work done it is a nice place but if you are looking for a good breakfast there are better places in my opinion.

Great atmosphere. Coffee and breakfast. Downhome atmosphere. Free parking. A classic coffee shop to sit and enjoy the morning

Coffee and food are pretty ok.
The environment is pretty good if you want to hang out.
We had the breakfast sandwhich on a bagel, bacon bowl (probably 90% bacon if you roll with that), matcha, and latte (almost a 3rd of the cup was filled with foam, so felt a little let down by that)
