This Caffè Nero in Central Square is one of my favorite places. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, ideal for relaxing or working. The staff are consistently friendly and professional, and the drinks and pastries are reliably well-made and enjoyable.
I’m disappointed by the recent negative reviews stemming from the mistaken identity incident. These situations are hard to manage perfectly, particularly after a prior customer engaged in serious anti-social behavior. It was an honest mistake, the company apologized promptly, and the customer involved has indicated that he considers the matter resolved.
This is a good café with decent people running it. It doesn’t deserve ongoing damage to its reputation over one resolved error. I continue to come here regularly and recommend it.

I have a great time here with their single origin coffee (from Peru) they said their single origin changed monthly so let’s see what is their coffee next month.

I just hate the cafe Nero chairs. They’re entirely unpadded and as someone with weak connective tissue, I can’t sit on them for long without hip and back pain.

Cute lil cafe with good vibes, solid coffee, and yummy pastries. It may be a chain, but the Cambridge Caffe Nero manages to feel a bit more like a local indie coffee shop with it’s cozy, comfy ambiance decked out with giant bookshelves, armchairs and couches, and ample seating. The staff is friendly and service is quick, so it’s a great spot to either hang out for a long time while finishing a bit of work or to grab your morning cup of joe and continue on. The coffee isn’t the world’s best coffee, nor are their pastries the world’s best pastries, but they’re all solid and definitely meet my early morning pick-me-up needs.

Not sure what’s happened with Caffe Nero’s matcha, but it’s become this super milky and diluted lukewarm, more like water with a tinge of grass flavor. The staff were nice enough to try to make me a new cup that was slightly warmer, but I think it’s more an issue with the updated recipe… My poor $6

I write this in support of Mr. Martin who was wrongfully accused by an employee handed this troubling and degrading incident with class and dignity. The scary part is this man and elder, who from what I read is very accomplished in his respective field of journalism, could have easily lost his life or been seriously injured had if the wrong officer responded. Even if he didn’t achieve what he did in life, no one deserves this no matter what walk of life they come from. The final insult was this establishment refused to serve Mr. Martin a simple cup of tea. As one myself who was falsely accused of something in my younger years and additionally suspected and profiled at times because of the color of my skin and I “fit the description” mantra I can fully understand the indignity Mr. Martin suffered, as well as others even though the scenarios are vastly different. While I do see the company issued an apology and a conversation took place, I hope they took this incident seriously and is used as a learning experience and an opportunity for growth and reflection, plus retraining for some of it’s team members.

This shop refused service to a minority, the staff mistook him for someone else. The problem I have with it is they were so sure, stating that “they have him on video” so they decide to call 911, men with guns that are notorious for shooting men without guns.
I can only imagine they are the type to say Black Lives Matter, I wonder if they said it while calling the police.
None of this sits well with me:
“This was a genuine case of mistaken identity due to the close similarity of height, build, and style of beard and glasses with a customer who had been responsible for significant anti-social behaviour previously,” the spokesperson explained in a statement. “While it is not acceptable to confuse any customer with another, the prior incident was traumatic for the barista involved and it triggered her response.”

i haven’t tried the food so i’m just gonna give it five stars. i just went and got a matcha, horrible. worst matcha i ever tasted. the price was nice only $5 for a small matcha. but i hated the matcha. it wasn’t made well, it was clumpy and k could barely taste the matcha itself. other than that the service was nice, i liked the atmosphere and vibe, maybe next time i’ll try a different drink and hopefully it’ll be much better!
