We had the most delicious breakfast at CafeLaVie. The service was warm, friendly, and helpful, as we had never been there before. My husband and I shared a cheese Danish with strawberry preserves and a chocolate Long John from the pastry case. Additionally, he got the French toast breakfast, and I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a freshly made croissant.
That croissant…*Chef’s kiss*
We got to spend some time with the owner/chef, Boi, as well. What a delightful woman!
We would definitely recommend stopping at this little spot in West Jefferson for breakfast or lunch. It’s worth every cent and calorie.

Wonderful made-to-order breakfast sandwiches and fantastic pastries. Boi, the owner, says her passion is baking and it shows. They also serve amazing lunch as well – sandwiches and bowls and soups. You’re missing out if you haven’t tried this cafe yet!
Editing review, we went last weekend and tried her pulled beef pretzel melt and the Bunny Chow and I cannot even describe in words how amazing they both are. Highly recommend the Pulled Beef Pretzel Melt, it’s honestly the best beef sandwich I’ve ever had.

My son got a BLT and I got a chicken salad with cranberries, lettuce, tomato mayo on a croissant, and it was so amazing. It was so good! We talked to the owner and she was so sweet and so hospitable and personal. She came over and asked if we liked our sandwiches and I told her how wonderful they are. They were the best I’ve ever had! They had a whole variety of different kind of sandwiches on the board that we’re definitely going to come back and try.. Prices are very reasonable. And you get a giant sandwich! They have a long cooler full of desserts and donuts. They also have different kind of teas and coffees in the morning and different variety of breakfast sandwiches as well, that we’re going back to try. Go check this place out!

The BEST cannoli I’ve ever had! The filling was traditional with ricotta. Could eat a tub of it with a spoon. Some bakeries cut corners and do something not ricotta based so it has a better shelf life. Not this bakery. The shell of the cannoli wasn’t too thick and the flavor was well balanced. Ever considered making lobster tail pastry’s? I’d be by every day. Haha. They’re my favorite and the only place that does them in cbus area low key butchered what a lobster tail is supposed to be.
I also got one of every donut. They are solidly good. Remind me of Amy’s donuts a bit.
They had lots of breakfast and lunch options that seem really reasonably priced which I love. I need to go back for lunch and try the real food.
My only constructive criticism is the business seems to be growing and when they’re busy it’s hard. There was a whole family who walked in before me. I was helped first and the lady was obviously doing her best, but seemed to be pulled in many different directions at once. I don’t feel that’s her fault though. She was genuinely trying her best and was kind to everyone. But to get some donuts and one cannoli I was standing there for over 10 minutes.

The chocolate croissant was absolutely perfect. And chicken salad melt had a great flavor with a smidgen of raspberry sauce. I wasn’t so sure about this but it worked! The croissant are made from scratch. So light and airy. I think their menu changes daily. I wanted tontry all the pastries and donuts but could not. I will definitely be back!

Everything about my visit here was 5 stars. Haven’t had good, authentic canoli in almost a decade. What a treat! Also the Botswana sandwich is to die for. For my fellow people that grew up in West Jeff, this is what the Ox Roast sandwich should be. I also tried a long John and a blackberry danish. All incredible, so was the service.

Some of the best food around!!! We always make it a point to go see Mrs. Boi everytime we are in town.
The Botswana Dip is by far one of my favorite sandwiches of all time! Homemade pretzel roll and marinated beef and the au jus i want to buy by the gallon!
Also had the Bunny chow aka The Botswana Bread Bowl, better come hungry if you order that! Half a loaf of homemade bread filled with a curried beef stew and veggies. Like a very savory veggie soup with curry, man its good!
And dont forget her baked goods!!!

Spectacular!! My family and I have tried multiple items from the bakery. Everything has been fantastic. The donuts are the best I’ve ever had. The chicken and mushroom pie is one of my kids favorites for a scrumptious lunch!

In fact, everytime i go in, we end up chatting about the entire time I’m there. I’d go every day if I could, but my work schedule doesn’t allow it.
