Ordered a large as pick-up and when I got home found out I got a large container halfway filled. Probably would have barely filled a small container. They’ve done this several times and I was tired of spending over $20 for about $8 worth of food, so I went online and sent a complaint. Not really my thing but like I wrote, this isn’t the first time they’ve done this. The response I got from the manager was that it was because I ordered a large bowl but requested to have it put in the next largest container, so it just looks like it’s less food. Then offered a refund.

I smelled a rat so I dug a little deeper. This is what they say about their container sizes and how it works if you ask for the next largest container, copied verbatim from their website:

1. Ask our cashier for the next size up container, and we’ll put a small bowl in a medium container or a medium bowl in a large container. We are happy to do that upon request at no charge.

2. While we do not have a next size up container for the large Yumm! Bowl, we think a Yumm! Wrappit® is just as satisfying.

So basically the manager of this location decided to lie about a stupid thing like this instead of just doing the right thing and saying that yes, I was shorted a good amount of food which I had paid for with the money I worked very hard for in a job where if I lie about anything I’ll be immediately marched out the door.

They can keep their refund. Obviously the measly profit they made off this order are worth more to them than a long term repeat customer, as well as that customers’ family, because I and several other people will never give them another dime.

I would suggest you do the same. There’s plenty of other options in that area.

What is going on with the staff at this restaurant? Nothing is ever cooked the same every day you can expect a different consistency and preparation. It gets so old when people just don’t care about the food they cook and you can tell. It’s the opposite of made with love. My tofu today was cooked as little as possible basically warmed and last time burnt to a crisp. My bowl looked like as little care as possible was given and definitely a little short of the size of the bowl I ordered. I love this restaurant when the food is made right but lately I’m just pissed after I open my to go bag and find a half ass prepared order.

I absolutely love this place whenever I go to Bend. I am a long time fan of Cafe Yum and been going to various locations in Eugene for 20 years … This Bend location keeps up their great reputation… Always friendly staff and delicious bowls packed to the top with goodness! My favorite is the Teriyaki Yum Bowl, and also their Seasoned Tofu is so dang good, and my “almost vegan” husband loves their Wrappits! Look forward to my next lunch visit when in Bend!

I go to Cafe yumm at least twice a month, one of them is usually with a client. It is always a great vibe there. The staff is always super helpful, and accommodate things that I want to add a remove from my order. The manager is always smiling and it’s a reflection on her team.

Food was average and acceptable. The restaurant was ok, it seems clean and has no issue. There was not much of a wait to order and recieve food. Outdoor seating does not have any shading. Location is great.

I am.a lunchtime regular at Cafe Yumm Old Mill, typically eating there 3 or 4 times a week. The food is always tasty, fresh, and well prepared. The staff is the best – so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Cafe Yumm!

Good food with solid portion sizes. Prices are a little high for the value, but the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience worth it.

Edit: a few years later, and I am happy to revise my review. Visited twice in recent weeks, and both times the place was spotless. So happy.

Original review:

I used to like this place. But last couple of visits made clear that they are in need of adult supervision. Tables are littered with trash, and no one working there seems to notice. “Clean” tables are sticky. Tonight (dinner time) they didn’t have anyone (old enough) to serve beer or wine. And the vegetarian bowl I ordered? Came with chicken. I don’t think I will be back. Maybe east side location if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

My daughter and I went here for lunch the day after Christmas.
First impressions: The restaurant was clean, and we were enthusiastically greeted.
Staff: The two people we interacted with were friendly, helpful (the woman behind the counter helped me pick out a bowl), and prompt.
Food: I got a Hot ‘n’ Jazzy Yumm ‘n’ Greens bowl with chicken; my daughter had a medium Original Bowl with chicken. The ingredients were high-quality and fresh, and I like that there are condiments available.
Notes: Cafe Yumm can accommodate any dietary preference/restriction. I wish the bowls were bigger in size – our food kept falling out every time we stuck our fork in it! I was expecting a lot more greens in my Yumm ‘n’ Greens bowl. Lastly, I don’t feel Cafe Yumm is a good value. Our two lunches – with tap water – came to $30, which seems high for quick-serve meals that are mostly rice, beans, and chips.
Overall, a decent but not inexpensive way to fill your belly.
