My husband & I came here for the first time last week. While the outside looks kind of run down & the area seems a little sketchy, we went in to give it a try. The inside is just exactly what you want an old-time Mexican restaurant to look like. Dark-ish with lots of booths & tables. It has a running fountain & Mexican style decorations on the walls. It’s a large place & we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. We chose a booth. We were immediately given chips & salsa which were both amazing! The salsa was so good! And the chips had some seasoned salt on them, which was very different & very tasty. I had the shredded chicken chimichunga (sp?) & my husband had something like bistek ranchero (sorry for my errors in remembering the name/spelling). Both meals came with rice & beans which were both excellent! My chimichunga was amazing! So good! My husband enjoyed his plate but said it lacked a bit of salt. So, he took some of the seasoned salt from our chips bowl & sprinkled that into his meat sauce & he then loved every bite! I could only eat about half of my dish so I got the rest to go. Hubby ate all of his. We will definitely go back. While I & want my same dish again, I have to try something else. Hubby says he wants the fajitas next time. Both of our meals (with sodas) & tip came to about $40 (I think both of our meals were about $15 each). What a pleasant surprise! There was just one waitress working while we were there & she was super nice. We stayed a bit to chat with her before leaving. All in all, I give it an A+ and cannot wait to go back again many more times to try something new each time. I think this will be our new favorite Mexican restaurant in Lompoc.

Chips and salsa are really good. The 2 times I have been there have been great both times. Since it is up the road from a new job our company is doing, I look forward to keep coming back.

A childhood favorite, after my recent visit I can safely say things are just as good as I remember them.
I like the homey atmosphere of the place and I’ve always been a fan of the chicken enchiladas here, absolutely fantastic and just like they were when I was younger.
Prices are good for the portions you get, the food as far as I’ve had it has been great. Not oily, just good cookin’.
Service is friendly as always, and I haven’t ever had problems there.

Only thing I feel has changed for the worse is the rice and beans that usually come as sides, they didn’t taste quite the same, and I wasn’t as fond of them this time around. Maybe a fluke.

Either way, a classic fixture of Lompoc with some good food to boot! I recommend it.

I have been eating there for almost 55 years. The food is always served fast and it is so reasonable. It’s a great place to see all of the regulars for go there for TACO TUESDAY so it’s a place for all of the regular eaters.

My family and I decided to come here for dinner not too long ago, since we remember their food was pretty good. Once we entered the building we could see it was packed, with a few open seats. We stood there waiting to be seated, but not one waitress even acknowledged us. We didn’t know whether we should seat ourselves or what. We waited for 5 minutes, and non of the waitresses said anything like hold on or in a minute or even to find a seat. Once eye contact was made, it was never made again. Awful service, I’m pretty sure it’s not hard to just seat us then hand us our menus. We left because standing there was just pointless. Also from first impression of the place after not being there in years…. it’s gross, I love old fashioned looking restaurants, but this place just looked like it was falling apart. Old tables, chairs, the set up is quite strange. Not ever going there again, I’ve never had an experience where it’s obvious the employes are purposely ignoring you. Awful.

Food is pretty good, cooks do a great job with no help from management or from the owner. They really need a hostess and cashier to take care of the guest instead of being told “sit anywhere” Bad business to start with.

This place is run down, old tables/chairs/booths. Careful where you sit yourself or especially if you take children, some of the paint/grout is coming off the walls and end up in your food or the children may entertain themselves peeling it off. Probably has led. I’m surprised the health dept., hasn’t made them do the necessary repairs to continue safe food service.

I understand this same owner has a couple of other local restaurants and they all follow the same POOR service. won’t be choosing these.

There are other really great local restaurants to go to. It only takes one time to ck some of these places out.

I gave it 3 stars because the salsa was more watery then thick, the guacamole was just avacado. You won’t find horchata in this establishment, but what you will find is a nice authentic atmosphere. I had the enchiladas with a lemonade and a side of guacamole. The food was served hot and delicious, the chips have a very good seasoning. The food is very inexpensive the guacamole was only $1.50 where else do you find that? It’s cheaper to eat here then at home.

Comfortable booths! And I love their orange color Great Salsa and Chips, hot chips spicy salsa. Minus one star for shotty iced tea too much chlorine in their water. But good food just order a beer I guess. Nice server, relaxing and fairly classic in decor.
