absolutely terrible. so many things wrong. first off, i asked for a quesadilla and wanted it extra crispy. wasn’t crispy, matter of fact it was the soggiest thing ive ever seen. and it was made with white cheese. who makes a quesadilla with white cheese??? second, my friend ordered a grilled chicken salad, they got shredded chicken. they also didn’t ask what we wanted on our things, just said “anything else? anything else? anything else?”. i also asked for two four OZ cups of guac and sour cream, and they gave me a 2 OZ, barely even full. and to top it off, we don’t even have a receipt. absolutely terrible customer service, never ordering here again unless this changes.

I love Cafe Rio. I really do. But we need to talk about the ongoing disappearance of my pinto beans.

This location and my beans are in a long term feud, and the beans lose every single time. Not occasionally. Not randomly. Every. Single. Visit.

Here’s the situation: I usually order three different enchilada meals, each with slightly different combinations. One has rice and no beans, one has black beans and no rice, and mine has extra rice and extra pinto beans. I’m convinced the variety sends the kitchen into a full blown crisis. Somewhere in the chaos of “no beans” and “black beans,” my extra pinto beans simply evaporate into thin air.

The only time I’ve ever successfully received them is when I order them on the side, like they need a special security clearance to make it into the bag.

And the thing is, I’m spending over $60 when I come here. This isn’t a casual drive by taco moment. So when I get home, open my container, and find a vast, beanless emptiness where my extra pinto beans should be, it’s devastating. What gives, you guys?

And then there was the feedback adventure. My receipt was taped to the bag with a QR code inviting me to leave a review that said “Queso, how did we do?”. Cute. Efficient. Except the receipt didn’t have the store number on it, which the feedback form requires. So there I was, already wounded from another bean tragedy, calling the customer service number like I was tracking down classified information just to get the store number (it’s 182, in case anyone else is looking for it).

To be fair, I was refunded $5 for the many missing bean incidents, and I appreciate that. But please understand, the repeated absence of my pinto beans has transformed me. I scanned the QR code. I made the call. I left the review. I became the person who goes the full nine yards… for beans. God help me

The restaurant was clean. Food is good. We had a receipt for free chips and salsa, the manager said that it is only good for a week after the purchase date. He gave the chips and salsa. On the receipt it doesn’t say anything about an expiration date.

I got a salad and requested grilled chicken, I ended up with shredded chicken and I wasn’t even asked what I would like on my salad via drive thru. To add onto this experience the person taking my order was annoyed and after every item asked in a mad tone “anything else?” I also got a shredded chicken quesidilla with extra guacamole and sour cream on the side. 2 oz’s were put on the lettuce and two in a side container. The containers barely even had anything in them. To add on at the window I asked them to leave the quest quesadilla on to make it crispy and they seemed to cook it less after confirming to make it crispy. They hadn’t even asked my sides on the quesadilla. They barely used any cheese and it was the wrong cheese too. I didnt recieve my recipt for this order but the person who took my pay wouldn’t even speak much to me and seemed annoyed. The order was roughly 35 dollars and for what happened I feel disappointed especially for how quickly they were able to bring the food suggesting it wasn’t busy. I truly cant recommend this location to anyone its so bad.

I rarely leave reviews, but I’m hoping a string of 1-star ratings will finally push management at this Cafe Rio to make real changes instead of just posting apologies online. The staff here is unbelievably rude—especially one employee who gets impatient and snarky during ordering, making you wonder if it’s some kind of prank. They’re constantly out of stock on items and the overall quality has tanked. It’s a shame because having a Cafe Rio nearby is convenient, but this location falls short in every way. Please fix this before it gets worse!

Would give 0 stars if possible, both of my pick up order experiences have been nothing short of no customer care. My first pick up order i showed up 2 minutes early for, they told me because i showed up 2 minutes early it wasn’t gonna be ready which is understandable, ended up waiting inside for an extra 15-20 minutes and found my burrito to have no cheese or sauce. My second experience i showed up at the time it was supposed to be ready and waited 6 minutes extra just for things to be missing from the salad and my “burrito” was a bunch of ingredients with a tortilla slapped ontop of it.

Worst cafe Rio!! This location needs some serious help! The staff is unbelievably rude and the food quality is really bad compared to other locations. I have had a member of their staff curse at me through the drive through. I even live close to this location and go out of my way to go to the fort union location or millcreek (3300s) location because the staff is so much better there and the food quality is much more consistent. Would not recommend!

Very, very happy with the service! I put in a togo order for 12 ppl and had to push it 2 hours earlier than I had said. They got it ready with time to spare! Thanks Miguel and Zara!! You guys are rock stars! (And your manager, although I didn’t catch her name…)

9:15PM. Uber Eats orders not prepared. Employees still handing me empty cups and expecting me to fill up the cup. Uber Eats drivers do not work for Cafe Rio. Do not hand them empty cups and expect them to fulfill your customers order for you. This also results in an incomplete job by your employees as they do not seal the drink. This needs to be addressed immediately.

Been to this café Rio a few times every time they skimp on the ingredients even if you pay for extra protein. I get 50% less salad than I do any other location. Will not be returning.
