I ordered online and showed up early to pick up my order. I was told I was early so id have to wait (which I was fine with). Its 9:20 at night there is no one in the line and im told they will start making it in 7 min closer to my pickup time. I watched the whole place sit and wait for 7 min and do nothing (maybe make my order)? Then im still here waiting at 9:32….12 min after my pickup time because my order isnt made. I cant believe this at all. Also didn’t give me the chips with the chips and salsa. No tortillas in the salads and the actual food (rice, beans and meat were all ice cold) I will not be returning to the American Fork location.

Came here around 5:20 PM after a long day of moving and the line was already spilling into the seating area. I expected it to be busy, but the lack of urgency from the staff made everything worse.

Employees could clearly see the line backing up, yet several people were walking around instead of helping the service line. One person was handling both online orders and the register, which slowed things down even more. The whole setup felt very unorganized with no one stepping in to manage the rush.

After waiting almost an hour, they ran out of steak right when it was my turn. They were only able to complete half my order and there was no backup meat being prepped. When I did finally receive food, it was cold.

This is fast food. Waiting an hour just to receive half an order with cold food is unacceptable. I have never had this experience at any other Cafe Rio in Utah County. This location seriously needs better management.

Cafe Rio is great!!! I probably don’t have to tell you that. Taco Tuesday for $2.49 ala carte tacos? You gotta be kidding! Love it. Sweet Pork for me! Make sure to get a little dressing (the only downside, ya gotta pay for that). I’m going to start trying the other meats since we’re going more often with the weekday deals. I’ve had them before but just can’t remember, and there’s no complaining about the pork, so no biggie either way.

I also like getting the tortilla strips on my tacos for some extra crunch.

Also, the kids quesadilla is fantastic. Don’t pass up a little side dish. Kids meals are great, too.

Enjoy a pic of this fine fare.

Update: have been going quite a bit, on Tuesdays They do great. Been feeding everyone for $5 each.

Another update: great again! Been filling out receipt survey for free drink and going on Taco Tuesday. And, reward points are also helping Was super good today. Really delish.

It’s been a little slow (through the line) lately. This store also didn’t have corn tortillas ready two different nights and also said one night they weren’t going to make more. Kinda odd for those who need to avoid flour as a dietary need (diagnosed food allergy).

Checkout guy seemed pretty disinterested tonight, also. Not very friendly. But still food was great and will maintain my rating.

In June 2025, we visited Cafe Rio in American Fork, Utah. Cafe Rio in American Fork is one of our favorite places to eat. They have reasonable prices and many promotions and reward points to help lower the costs. The food is delicious and well-portioned and the staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoy our frequent visits to Cafe Rio in American Fork. I highly recommend other people to patronize this location. Cafe Rio also treats Veterans well, and gives discounts to Veterans who have a valid form of identification.

This is aMAZING food. So fresh. Made in house. Customize your order. So fresh and tasty. The cilantro salad dressing is epic. We get the tostada—basically a salad but it’s a better size. Salads can feed 2 or more people.

Placed order online, arrived on time and waited over an hour. My name was called, went up to pick up my food and was told, “we’re working on it” why even call me up? got my food and was missing a meal.. went back inside.. came home and even though we had paid for fire grilled chicken and fire grilled steak we all received shredded chicken…. Ended up going back again again and they refunded our meal. I don’t blame the employees this is managements fault.. we have teenagers trying to keep up with such a busy location meanwhile being underpaid and unappreciated. Upper management needs to figure it out..

I would give no stars if I could. Ordered two salads and had them delivered to my home. Half way through my salad I find a big black bug. I’m horrified!! Don’t think I’ll ever want Cafe Rio again.

Imagine ordering your food several hours in advance just to be told when you get there to pick up your food it’s going to be another hour. Then watching the people that got there after you get their food faster as they go through the regular line not sure if they know what pick up later means.(I appreciate the apology from the owners but it seems to be a theme with this location.) we also had reservations at a different place for a date activity so we ended up being late for that as a result.)

I walked into this Cafe Rio and was immediately hit with a nasty smell — like wet tortillas mixed with vinegar. It honestly smelled like the trash hadn’t been taken out in weeks.
For a restaurant, that’s unacceptable. It gave the impression that cleanliness just isn’t a priority here. The only reason this location stays busy is because there isn’t another Cafe Rio close enough to meet the local demand in Lehi.
Being popular shouldn’t be an excuse for poor standards. If you’re going to rely on volume, the least you can do is keep the place clean and smelling like food — not old garbage.

Edit:
Thank you for replying! I’m happy to delete this review, pending action taken to improve the restaurant. I hope all goes well. Wishing you all the best.

Put in a pick up order for 6:50pm. We showed up and there were tons of other people also waiting for their pick up orders. We waited until about 7:15pm at which point we asked how much longer it would be and they told us 50 more minutes. Other people had been waiting since their 6:20pm orders and hadn’t yet received them. Not sure why it was taking so long. We ended up canceling our order and getting food elsewhere. Not sure if we will be returning anytime soon.
