My daughters and I were traveling from Wisconsin back to Iowa. We stopped this is adorable diner for breakfast. We had the best service from a gentleman who was so kind. And the food was so good! I only wish that we had this restaurant in our hometown. I don’t know who the waiter was that we had, but he definitely made our experience outstanding.

Stopped here on the way home from the dells. We were greeted by a few people who were very kind. The beef barley soup was amazing!! My 2 yr old even loved it! The fried mushrooms were also delicious. You can tell everything is fresh! Our waitress was very sweet as well! Loved this place!

On our ways back to Milwaukee from the Dells and took a detour to find some new place we hadn’t ate at before. Ended up in Lake Mills and came across this place. The staff was very attentive to accommodate having a 2 yr old and 9 month old. We ordered some sandwiches with fries and soup. The beef barley was amazing. The soups were great. The inside was nice and modernized. You could tell the decor had been renovated lately and they took pride in its upkeep. The waitress was friendly and the food was quick. Definitely glad we stopped in, instead of hitting a drive-thru on the normal freeway home. Nice little area with at least one great little diner. Will have to visit again, for maybe longer and try some more food!

We came to Cafe in the Park while we were in town for a gymnastics meet. We arrived at 5:45pm and quickly realized that many local restaurants close early or had long waits.
We decided to visit Cafe at the Park. We went with the dinner buffet and had Aurelia as our waitress. She was so lovely and attentive! We arrived a bit early so some of the food seemed like it had been sitting but within 15 mins everything had been refreshed. My kids loved it because there was pizza, fresh fruit and chicken tenders and fries to choose from. I personally loved the mahi mahi and mashed potatoes!
In the morning we came back for breakfast and this is truly where Cafe on the Park shines. Our waiter was Luis but Daniel an Aurelia were also there and helped us with condiments, taking plates to the table and much more. Although there were many other guests at the restaurant we felt like we had VIP treatment.
The breakfast was sooooo good: the omelette station was amazing. There was chicken sausage, pork sausages waffles, French toast, bacon and so much to choose from! This was one of the best breakfast buffets I have been to at a hotel.
So glad we came back!

Surprisingly low prices for hearty portions of food! Even with a full dining room our service was exceptional. Fries were hot and fresh, and the sandwiches were delectable. Our 4 year old ate her ENTIRE PLATE of silver dollar pancakes and bacon. What a pleasant stop in Lake Mills. We will make sure to come again.

As someone that is in the industry I may be looking at things differently than the average diner so please believe me when I tell you that this place is the real deal!! I have been coming here with my family after church fairly regularly for the past few years (even before the current owners) and each time I go they manage to improve more and more.
The recent renovation is fantastic. Clean, safe, modern, but still has that independent vibe – not an easy thing to accomplish I promise you that.
The food is great (my whole family are over the moon for the cream of chicken and rice soup!) and they manage to keep it changing. Constantly trying new specials which again, is not easy to do for an independent shop where the owners are cooking, serving and everything in between!
The service – I don’t think I have had nicer service from every person from when I walk in the door to when I leave.
And pricing is EXTREMELY reasonable! Food cost these days is crazy (I am sure I don’t have to tell you to just look at your own grocery bill) and I honestly don’t know how they can offer such value with the pricing 😉
If you would like a solid diner meal from a quality small business – you should definitely put Cafe on the Park into your GPS 😉

I love this little piece of heaven in downtown Lake Mills! I had the Mexican Skillet this morning at the newly remodeled space with the lights of the park twinkling across the street. Great food, great prices, great people!
