Café Olympic is a cozy little corner café in Crystal Lake that feels like the kind of spot locals swear by—and judging by the crowd on a Sunday morning, they definitely do. It was packed when we arrived, and we waited about 20 minutes for a table, but it was worth it once the food hit the table.

The breakfast plates were hearty and perfectly seasoned—the potatoes had that crispy-outside, fluffy-inside texture with just the right amount of spice, and the eggs were cooked spot-on. The omelet was loaded and flavorful, the chicken and waffles were crispy and golden, and the bacon was the perfect mix of chewy and crunchy. Everything tasted like it was made with care, not rushed despite the busy morning.

It’s a smaller café, but it’s got that classic diner charm with friendly service and comforting food that hits the spot. If you’re in Crystal Lake and craving a solid breakfast, this place should definitely be on your list—just maybe get there early if it’s Sunday!

Must have good reviews from locals. Rundown, dirty, sticky, worn tables, torn and taped seat cushions. Bathroom on left was clean. No waiting area. You stand next to people trying to eat. Every time the door opens, you get blasted with winter. Waited to be greeted, no indication of seat yourself or wait…so awkward. Table was worn through, sat on blue duct taped, torn seat.
Food took a long time to come out, compared to similar breakfast diners.
Food was greasy. Ham in the meat lover’s skillet was chunks of fat. Eggs on one of the orders was cold.
Won’t be returning.

The service here is fantastic, and the food does not disappoint. I tried the egg plate, which had perfectly cooked eggs and flavorful bacon. My husband enjoyed the breakfast sandwich, which was equally satisfying. We are already excited to return and explore more of the menu.

Cafe Olympic is always our first choice for breakfast. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the service is smooth and efficient. The breakfast gravy, classic favorites, and avocado toast are always delicious, and the drinks are perfectly made. It is a place we happily return to again and again.

Cafe Olympic has the energy of a hipster Chicago diner where every plate feels like it was made for a foodie. The menu is packed with variety—plenty of vegetarian and vegan options—so there’s something for everyone.
We loved it so much that we came back the very next week.

The Cinnamom Roll is an absolute must-try. We ordered it as an appetizer (a power move, honestly), and it was the perfect way to start—warm, rich, decadent, and just the right amount of indulgent. It’s so big and sweet that sharing a few bites is more than enough.

Between the creative menu, welcoming vibe, and food that keeps you thinking about it days later, Cafe Olympic has definitely earned a spot on our regular rotation.

There aren’t enough stars on here to compliment this restaurant. We started with the homemade cinnabon which was absolutely to die for. Probably
one of the best cinnamon rolls i’ve ever had.We also started their homemade chicken rice soup absolutely incredible. My main course was the CBR wrap, probably the best wrap I have ever had. They toast the tortilla so you are not eating a soggy wrap, there is enough consistency between chicken and bacon. All star breakfast and lunch spot. I highly recommend and will be back

Nice atmosphere, quaint location, and fantastic service. The menu is WOW with many vegan options… awesome!
However, we had the California, Gypsy, and Irish Omelettes (not vegan/vegetarian) for their signature flavor experience. Yum!

Long wait times to be seated. Small booths. Food quality was great, but you definitely pay for it. Staff were friendly enough, but because it was packed, it took a very long time for one of our orders to come out so 2/3 ppl had food and were 1/2 done before our 3rd was even served. The Hollandaise sauce was excellent.
