Café Mexicali is outstanding. The food is truly exceptional—everything tastes fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. You can tell they care about quality, especially with their homemade tortillas, which are absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean, and the employees are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. If you’re looking for a genuine, authentic Mexican dining experience, I highly recommend eating here. One of my favorite spots.

Stopped in for a decent sized to go order and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The order was quick and accurate and the food was great. We always like the sweet pork nachos. The smothered burritos are a main stay, probably nothing we don’t like here. Love the new location close to home. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Brand new location, same delicious food!
Enjoyed the seasoned beef nachos today and they hit the spot perfectly. Added some tomitilla rice. The store is brand new and spotless. The servers are friendly and helpful. They need you to come give them work to do.

I went in about 20 minutes before close and the employees were so welcoming, kind and fast. I really appreciated the great service, especially since it was close to closing time. I tried the sweet pork and it was DELICIOUS. Thank you!

We had an incredible experience at this Cafe Mexicali location! The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was top-notch from start to finish — friendly, fast, and attentive. The entire team here are total rock stars!
We’ve been to other Cafe Mexicali locations, but this one stands out above the rest. It’s officially our go-to spot from now on. Highly recommend — thank you for such a great experience!

I know this is a new location that has opened up, but this is the slowest service I’ve ever had at a Cafe Mexicali They need to have more people or they need to be better trained. I’ve waited in line for my chicken burrito for over 25 minutes. Tortilla maker girl, doesn’t know how to cook the tortillas, person working the register is having serious issues, and she’s also in charge of doing the specialty drinks. Obviously need more people. Register Electronics working properly, we had to go to a different register to pay for our food.

Tortilla soup was overly salty and yet bland and the chicken has the flavor and texture of canned. Chicken “enchiladas” consisted of three corn tortillas stacked up with a huge amount of sauce, some cheese, and a scoop of chicken from the same vat as the soup. Absolutely disgusting and WAY overpriced. There are so many better options. Please don’t tell me to go to your website to enter a complaint because I tried and there isn’t a place to do it.

Came here after hearing rave reviews about how delicious etc the food is. This one was absolutely terrible. I’m not sure they know what they’re doing at the one in Johnstown. The food was super bland, the staff were disorganized and scatter-brained, and when I asked if the beans had lard in them, he looked at me like I suddenly sprouted a second head. I said never mind, got them anyway, but shouldn’t the manager and staff know what ingredients they are serving?! The lettuce was in huge, 2×2” chunks (so weird—it should be shredded), and like I said, everything was bland and had no real flavor. I will never go back, and it’s sad that people think this is actually good food. Go to Mexico or California for some authentic Mexican food, and you’ll know what I mean when I say this place is so bad

First time trying Cafe Mexicali and it was AMAZING! The food was delicious and the portion sizes were decently big. I really loved the availability of taking home leftovers easily. The staff was also very welcoming and helpful. Overall, one of the best experiences I’ve had at a new restaurant and easily my new favorite place!

Been a Cafe Mexicali die hard since college 20+ years ago and this location is the only one yet to disappoint. I ordered a single sweet pork burrito and had to ask for more quantity of fillings and also asked for guac inside the burrito. As it was rolled up I asked did you put guac in that the cafe mex employee looks at me wide eyes like oops no I didn’t. When I did get guac added it was maybe at best a half scoop and I had to ask for more (which I was additionally charged for). Get out to my car and as I set the plastic bag down on the passenger seat the lid pops open. Not a big deal but come on, are these teenagers truly being trained right if they can’t get an order right let alone putting a lid on a carryout order. If… Big if… I decide to continue to come back to Cafe Mexicali it definitely won’t be in my hometown Johnstown Cafe Mexicali! Highly unrecommended for customer service and quality!
