I’ve had food here several times (both catered and takeout) and it’s always amazing. I’ve gotten a variety of different dishes, and each time the portions are very generous and the flavors delicious. The owner is also really sweet and it’s clear she genuinely cares about her customers.

Best restaurant in Blacksburg!! I got the drunken noodles, HOT, and they were so good. Portions are huge, couldn’t finish my meal. There was so much protein in it, too. The owner is so kind and attentive! She was checking up on every table, cleaning, serving, all of the above. Great place to eat in the winter, especially.

Cafe Mekong has been my favorite restaurant for about 12 years now, and that hasn’t changed for a single moment. I have been coming here since 2013 so I can confidently say I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu, and I have never had a dish I didn’t love.

My go-to favorites are the Szechwan beef noodle soup, the bún, and the newly added tom yum soup, which instantly earned a permanent place in my rotation. My go-to appetizer is the chicken satay, which is always a divine treat. And their Thai iced tea is, without a doubt, my favorite in the area. Many dishes allow you to choose your protein, which makes the menu very vegetarian-friendly, and during the years I was vegetarian, I never struggled to find options.

The food alone would keep me coming back, but the service is always wonderful, ESPECIALLY the manager. She is genuinely one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Even when she’s clearly swamped, she always takes the time to stop and say hi, which never fails to leave me smiling and in a great mood.

To say that I love this restaurant is putting it lightly. I usually eat Cafe Mekong at least once a week (or order takeout) and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. It is a place I will return to again and again because it is consistently exceptional in every way.

Cafe Mekong never disappoints. Every time I go, the food is fresh, flavorful, and comforting — especially the pho. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. It’s one of those places you confidently bring friends to because you know it’s going to hit every time. After having almost everything on the menu I can genuinely say that this place is the best Asian food spot in Blacksburg area.

Not sure what others are talking about with “poor service” and “no flavor”. I’ve been to many Thai restaurants, and I’ve never had Thai food this good. I got the Kimchi Fried Rice and it was amazingly good. My friends both got the Pad Thai and they immensely enjoyed it. Very flavorful, tastes like home-cooked Thai food. On top of that it’s incredibly cheap for a Thai place this good.

Made my first visit to this restaurant today and was surprised by how busy it was, even during the slower afternoon hours. I love vegetarian cuisine, so I tried their string bean dish (with green beans, tofu, onions, and garlic) and an order of vegetable dumplings. Loved the flavors! Service was friendly, it had a genuinely pleasant atmosphere, and even the customers seemed to radiate good energy. Will go there again tomorrow. Definitely worth a visit!

I expected the restaurant to be a lot bigger on the inside than it actually ended up being just from looking at it from the outside. It’s definitely not the biggest place, but not the smallest either.

Overall, the vibes and ambiance are pretty good because there’s a lot of natural lighting. Service was great, and the food was good too! I ended up getting the drunken noodles, which was very tasty and not particularly expensive. Portions were also healthy.

I’m happy that I came by and definitely would come back!

We eat here normally twice a month when in the area.
Some of the best Vietnamese and Thai food around.
Service is always great. It is a bit of a small place but well kept.

Everything we have tried here is delicious and the staff is very nice! Definitely try the Pineapple Chicken, Drunken Noodle, or Panang Curry. We have been coming here for years and it is consistently good.

Very good. Take one look at my reviews and you can see I really enjoy authentic Thai food. Particularly, Thai fried rice. This was different. Different but good. I didn’t care for the pineapples and I feel that is something you might want to mention to a customer before adding to the dish. Other than that the meal was great and I look forward to trying some of their Vietnamese dishes next time I’m in town. I believe the cost was a little over $15 which is a tad bit on the high side but also to be expected in a college town. I’ll definitely be back.
