I really enjoy the vibe of this place. Totally my thing. Been here a couple of times with my best friend. She had the lamb the first time, but did not care for it. I had their burger and enjoyed it greatly. (Comes with a bacon jam) I convinced her to go again. Said we could just get burgers. Unfortunately, for both of us, the burger buns were so burned that it affected the taste of the entire burger. Both were cooked correctly to what we ordered, one as medium and the other medium well. On both visits we also ordered drinks/cocktails. At both visits, these drinks were quite good. There’s not really a sign on the outside of the building that states Cafe La Vie….it’s inside of the Le Meridien Hotel in the affluent/financial district of Clayton, MO. Gated parking is free if you get your parking ticket stamped at the hotel desk when dining here.

I came here with my partner on a Sunday evening for dinner. If you enjoy a very quiet, nice and calm dinning environment this is it. We had an excellent server named Ray, he was welcoming, professional, and made our experience wonderful.

The food (Tenderloin Filet), dessert (Choc-Hazelnut Gelato), and drink (The Mark) was delicious! My waitress Angela was awesome! So kind and gave me great suggestions on the menu! Would definitely come back again!

I have never written a restaurant review before, and I think I’m usually pretty patient/hesitant to complain, but I just have to write something. Book my wedding reception here (small private dinner), and it can only be described as a dumpster fire. Food was overcooked, too salty, not as described, or came out like jerky (some guests actually took pictures and giggled/snickered to each other). Service was so slow that we had to ask for updates periodically, only to be served terrible food after literal HOURS of waiting. We left without eating dinner and were told that we would not be charged, but I just discovered that we were in fact charged the food/bev minimum despite a verbal agreement with the manager. I restrained myself from reviewing for a couple of weeks but just can’t help it after seeing that I ended up paying to have such a terrible night. Others in the restaurant were also unhappy/complaining. Knocked a star off of “atmosphere” because there were dogs in the restaurant, which I can’t imagine is allowed, but the atmosphere/decor is lovely, and the room was nicely set up for us. Fatima in particular was lovely, and I really enjoyed the planning stage with the event coordinator Danielle, who is lovely as well and was very helpful. Bizarrely, the breakfast tasted great every morning, so I’m not sure what happened.

My wife and I had a fabulous dinner at Cafe la Vie. We have a couple of favs in STL (mostly French) and I can safely add this to our “go to” list. App, mains, and dessert were all outstanding. Our server, Corinthia, was knowledgeable and timed the meal perfectly. Pricing is exactly what I’d expect for the food quality. Zero gripes…we’ll be back for sure.

The food was awesome! Unfortunately, they’re severely understaffed. It was seat yourself, but there weren’t any clean tables, so we picked one that had the least amount of stuff to be bussed. It took a little for a waitress to notice us. They were both really sweet! However, we didn’t get any of our drinks (not even water) till after our food arrived. I went up to pour myself water in a hopefully clean mug I found nearby.

Trust me, I had the same first initial thought. Why would you go to a restaurant inside a hotel. Well this is exactly why. The food was so damn good, did not have a bad meal here and we had breakfast and dinner here.

Went here with a family member for Xmas brunch. The food was delicious but they had a limited menu, especially dessert. Service was sketchy as they didn’t have enough wait staff. Also they couldn’t communicate with each other because a % couldn’t speak English. Two people had just been hired and the manager was doing his best. I would return for the food.

The worst. Mothers day brunch was simple scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, oats. Nothing off the menu. By the time we found out, it was too late to go anywhere else. Service was awful. Ruined mother’s day for my wife and mother. $60 for gas station buffet.

Really cool atmosphere, worth going for the decor. The food is good but service is slow. It may be worth going when growing pains are over since it’s still pretty new. I do think it would make a nice date spot.
