Took a ride out to Cafe’ Jefferson Sunday 2/22/26 with my brother Gerald to have a afternoon lunch.. We both ordered the crab meat, au gratin.! PICTURES ATTACHED.! It was the BEST EVER in a restaurant that I have ever had. Not 1 shell in either dish and it was FULL of crabmeat and had a cheese cream sauce that was absolutely delicious. Best ever and with the short drive from Lafayette. Service was superb and restaurant was immaculately clean.! 25 stars if I could. Please share the love and go visit this place with all the peacocks walking around the property and in the trees.! The view from the restaurant looking at the lake is breathtaking with the old Oak trees throughout.! Wonderful experience as usual..

We came for lunch on a Monday afternoon around 12. The hostesses were quick to accommodate our party of 14! The service was excellent. I had the seafood bisque and it was heavenly. Everyone around me was also enjoying their food immensely. If you come visit the Rip Van Winkle gardens I highly recommend stopping by Cafe Jefferson! Especially because the peacocks will greet you as you leave on the patio!

We arrived an hour early to set up for a 14-person bridal luncheon, carrying all the things that come with a special celebration. We were greeted by a new manager who initially only knew the size of our party — not that it was a bridal event — yet she handled everything with absolute grace.

Although she was under strict instructions that nothing could be attached to the glass tabletops, she immediately began offering creative solutions instead of limitations. With the day being so beautiful, she thoughtfully helped us rearrange seating on the porch to perfectly accommodate both our décor and our group size.

Her attentiveness, flexibility, and calm presence made the entire experience feel effortless and peaceful. We were able to truly enjoy the moment, surrounded by a gorgeous atmosphere, without stress or scrambling.

The photos and the event itself will always be remembered — but what will be cherished most is how important, cared for, and welcomed she made us feel. That level of service is rare and deeply appreciated. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Brittany and her team that helped up clean up afterwards, thank you thank you!

I had the Seafood Heaven which was listed on the menu as having a basil cream sauce. There was absolutely no hint of basil flavor, even mildly, and no basil visible, even by slight coloration, in the sauce. It was extremely bland and made even worse by having undissolved chunks of flour in the sauce, which had the consistency of gnocchi. The only saving grace was the delicious, fresh, jumbo Gulf shrimp, and lump crab meat, which were delicious. Still, hard to swallow at the market price of $30. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. We did note the gentleman at the table sitting next to us return his sandwich, which was then replaced with a bowl containing another menu item. Maybe just not a good day for Cafe Jefferson.

Hands down one of the best places we’ve had lunch. The facility is beautiful, views are amazing with the old oaks and lake back drop. Service was friendly and pointed. Food yeast rolls are amazing!!! Seafood gumbo on point, the Turkey Sandwich and Muffaletta were delicious. Will certainly be back and recommending to anyone that is thinking of headed that direction.

Greet your customers with kindness, because the first few seconds of rudeness can ruin the entire dining experience.

The place was not even halfway occupied, yet the hostess wouldn’t allow us to sit near the window because the available table had 2 more seats than our party required. Then 2 smaller tables near the window were vacated shortly after we arrived; we would have gladly waited a few minutes for a nice table on the porch. No surprise: no one used the “big table” the entire time we were there and another big table in the main room also went unoccupied. So the view we went there to enjoy was denied to us by a rude employee.

The food was mostly disappointing as well. The crab au gratin was a bowl of butter with overcooked crab. My daughter found the seafood in her bisque overcooked as well. The sandwich had bread so hard my son didn’t even want it. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly either.

The prices are quite high, but it was mostly the rude staff that ruined what was intended to be a special family lunch to celebrate a birthday. It’s a shame because the grounds are lovely, but none of us intend to eat at Cafe Jefferson again.

Some new friends recommended this to us. We first walked the gardens and then stopped in the cafe. The atmosphere is very cozy, especially if you get a window view, or even better would be to sit outside under the oak trees. The sandwiches were huge. The Bloody Mary was perfect. The bourbon pecan pie was delicious, as was the key lime pie. I was in a T-shirt and shorts, but I feel that a collared shirt would be more appropriate. Great place to take someone to make them feel special.

Crab au gratin was fantastic, seafood heaven also great. Seafood gumbo was delicious. Pecan pie meh! Very small slice more dough than filling. Pass on it.
