A place with good coffee and delicious pastries.
It’s inside the “Printemps” building in the first floor. Close to the entry.
You order and they give you a number. Then, they bring it to your table and there is no reservation in advance.
I chose ” Pain suisse Haitien” it is a marble croissant filled with cream pastry so delicious and fluffy! Then, Hazelnut financier with orange flavor ( I wish if they had added the custom paper to my pastries ) and of course a blend drip coffee.
You can enjoy it in a stylish place and nice atmosphere!
I really recommend this place to anyone who loves good coffee and delicious pastries!
I may go back for more dégustations soon.
The ambiance is good (not too loud even when crowded bc the circus ceiling absorbs some sound). Beautiful, comfy furniture but not stuffy and service is friendly (coffee and pastries are ordered at the counter and served to your table if you dine out).
I ordered a fresh juice and cappuccino—both were good, and the staff was genuinely nice. The seating is comfy and chic, and the location in the new shopping center is perfect. The only downside was the presentation: for a combined price of over $20, I expected the cups and glasses to be more aesthetically pleasing.
The Roasted Garlic & Tomato Focaccia was my favorite of the two bakery items we ordered— tasted like a mini bagel bite pizza, but more fancy. Focaccia was airy, and doughy.
Not the biggest fan of the Caribbean Chocolate Sea Salt Cookie— flavor and aftertaste was incredibly strong and powerful.
But… for the price point and the upscale image this place has, and with Printemps being French. I was definitely expecting to enjoy my coffee in some nice china. Instead, I was surprised to see their cups were from Crate & Barrel. Nothing wrong with that in general, but it doesn’t really match the high-end look they’re going for.
Also, they should really have a trained barista to craft tasty coffee with proper latte art. That might sound like a lot to ask, but at these prices? In NYC, with so many other amazing options, it’s really the least they could do.
That being said, I would go back for their guava pastry.
The staff is not well trained, another thing that was unexpected. The woman behind the cash register picked up the croissant with 2 hands, in one hand she had a paper napkin but the other hand had no glove or napkin, she touched the croissant . I told her she should not touch the food with her hands since she is at the cash register and she said she had washed he hands. Come on !
The design of the cafe is also disappointing, it could have been such a nice opportunity. Lighting in the ceiling is cold , lighting in general is flat and dark.
Printemps: you should do better !
Update: confirming a 1 star review for the service. I waited for 10 minutes to place an order at the cashier and there was only 1 person in front of me. I asked for a pain au chocolat only to find out that is has cream inside, not chocolate.
I got a coffee and the Haitien pan au chocolat. The latter was really fun: the exterior was threaded with ribbons of chocolate and the interior comprised vanilla bean custard enveloping gooey chocolate.
I’m glad I tried this place!
