Café Equinox is a botanically inspired café nestled in FamilyTree Nursery’s Shawnee location, where you can enjoy coffee, pastries, and WiFi amongst the cozy indoor or greenhouse seating. We serve a wide range of Thou Mayest beverages, including a selection of unique coffees, sourced from around the world and roasted right here in Kansas City. We’ve also selected the best-of-the-best in accompaniments, which includes delicious baked goods (including gluten-free and vegan options) provided by KC’s own Heirloom Bakery and Hearth, as well as Mud Pie Vegan Bakery & Coffee. Last but not least, we offer an exciting lineup of teas from KC’s ChaiPod and Chicago-based Spirit Tea.

Atmosphere was so fun, I love plants so this was definitely fun for me. It’s inside a plant nursery. I enjoyed sitting in the greenhouse and sipping on coffee. Given it was really hot that day, so being trapped in a greenhouse was a little rough since there was no airflow. The staff was all super friendly. I did wish they had more food, I was disappointed to see there was only one muffin available. Coffee was good though.

Don’t let looks deceive you. From the street it looks like a nursery, which it is, but it also a super atmospheric cafe!
If you crave a truly one of a kind place to sip your coffee or tea, this place is great. It honestly feels a bit like you’re in a theme park with all the atmosphere. There are spaces for you to sit and read on your own or work on your laptop, but also larger tables that would fit groups of 8-10 people.
I love the way it smells too! The plants really make the air smell great gives such a “secret garden” vibe. So peaceful!
I tried the chai and the green tea. Both were delicious!

Ambiance is wonderful. Cafe is part of Family Tree Nursery. Greeneries inside and out, outside patio seating. Merchandise consist of interesting items like unique red herbal and tonic teas. Barista was pleasant, went straight to making the drink within minutes. They have loyalty program which you can sign up for. The 8 oz hot dirty chai I ordered was $7, little pricey and too strong of espresso taste thus the 4 stars!

This place makes me so happy. The lattes are super tasty and having the option to add cbd is great! I love to come here by myself, bring a book and chill at all the different stops surrounded by plants and flowers. The baristas are always nice and open to recommend drinks according to your taste.

My wife and I came here for ideas for our garden and I was blown away! So many beautiful plants, items to shop for inside, a lovely cafe, and outdoor seating among some of the plants. It’s a great feeling and a very enjoyable place to be. The staff was extremely helpful in providing us with information on different plants. I got a coffee to go from the cafe and it was the best lavender latte I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return here.

An incredible cafe experience. The seating out in the greenhouse is warm and provides an opportunity to soak in some time with plants and recharge your batteries. I ended up closing my eyes for a 15-minute nap among the greenery to the sound of water babbling in the fountain. Not the fanciest drink experience, but the chance to get out of the cold winter weather and still feel like you’re outside is nothing to sneeze at. I’ll definitely be returning with a good book in the near future.

Didn’t try any of the food so can’t tell you anything about that. The espresso is excellent and so are the coffee beans. The Nursery has everything you are looking for ,very reasonable prices and about every plant and flowers you are looking for. My wife and I stop here every time we come to town.

Some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet in an incredibly comfortable and fun space. The baristas are extremely kind and very well-trained. I’ve never had a bad coffee here, and the seasonal drinks are always spectacular. The atmosphere is filled with plants and is very calming. You can sit indoors or outdoors, and enjoy the bounds of plants and fresh air!

I hard not to LOVE THIS place because it is connected to the Family Tree Nursery. After grabbing your cup of beverage of choice you get the chance to roam around and enjoy all the greenery. Soak in the wonderful aroma emitted by all the surrounding plants, it’s just so heavenly! I will say that it’s such a prime spot for photography since everything is so aesthetic. If you want to enjoy your weekend with chill vibes, I recommend coming to this place.
I even got the chance to bring home a few plants and I can only hope that i can keep them alive. Also, they have a ton of variety of plants ranging from Flowers -> Herbs -> house plants -> scrubs -> trees. I get the feeling that if you cant find a specific plant at your local market, you can definitely find it here. take a look at my photos- you’ll be able to see what I mean by all of this.

Had my first date here with a weird (in a nice way) quirky girl. We both got drinks we hated. She got a matcha green tea, basically tasted like the fertalizer in the back. I think thats the goal with those. I got an americano which was very strong.
