Decent Experience at Café de la Comédie

Café de la Comédie offers a pleasant atmosphere and a convenient location, making it a good spot for a casual stop. The setting is charming and captures the classic Paris café vibe.

Service was acceptable, though a bit inconsistent, and the overall experience didn’t quite stand out compared to other cafés nearby. The hot chocolate was unfortunately quite weak and lacked richness, which was disappointing. On top of that, the prices felt super expensive for what was offered.

Overall, an average experience—nice for a quick visit, but there’s room for improvement to truly shine.

Lovely café just steps from the Louvre! The atmosphere is charmingly Parisian, and the staff are warm and attentive. A perfect place to unwind after exploring the Musée du Louvre.

Being that it was our second time in Paris, we decided to ditch the first timers at the Louvre and grab some French cuisine.

ATMOSPHERE:
Busy little cafe near the Louvre. Great for people watching along Rue St Honore.

FOOD:
Chocolate Crepes with Vanilla Ice Cream
Crepes were cooked perfect. Vanilla ice cream was out of this world – never tasted vanilla like that. Super rich & flavorful.

Croque Monsieur
My first of this sammy was here. This isn’t your everyday ham & cheese sandwich! It’s not because we were in Paris. It’s just unbelievably delish – from the cheese, to the toasted bread to the flavor of the ham. Ok, maybe the location has a little something to do with it.

SERVICE:
We walked in without a reservation and got seated immediately at a sidewalk table. Our server was friendly and professional.

OVERALL:
Nice ambience, great food & service. One of the joys of Paris!

I love it ❣️
I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. It came with a little salad, and together it was wonderful. Server also brought my husband and I some sliced french bread that was a nice little treat with butter. See photos…

Café de la Comédie – Paris

Classic Parisian café with surprisingly good food. The French onion soup was hearty and satisfying — thick, rich broth with a generous amount of melted cheese and bread on top. The pasta was also nicely done, flavorful and cooked well.

The space is a bit cramped, especially during busy hours, but that’s part of the charm for many small Paris cafés. Service was attentive and friendly, which made the experience pleasant overall.

A solid stop if you’re around the area and looking for comforting French fare in a lively atmosphere.

Absolutely fabulous food, friendly service, and a perfect spot just steps from the Louvre Museum. Every dish we tried was a delight- French toast with ham, French Onion Soup, and a delicate crepe that truly captured authentic French flavors. The escargot was rich and buttery, and the pesto penne was vibrant and full of flavor. On top of the amazing food, the waiter was friendly and very helpful, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a satisfying French meal in a prime location – Louvre Museum!

Nice cafe near the Louvre. They have a good selection of food and drinks. We ordered the onion soup, la madame and a Colette, which all were good. Server was attentive and checked on us often, even when it got busy.

Lovely little place. Very friendly staff. The children loved the pizza. The pasta Alfredo was lovely. Very reasonable price, given we are in a major city. A number of beers on draught. The French IPA Cadette was very nice.

Nice food and well priced for the area but severely let down by the general cleanliness of the cafe especially the toilets and the access to them with my partner nearly falling down the stairs due to how slippery and tight they are. Small tables also make it difficult to fit drinks, bread and food onto the tables. Plus if you can only drink non dairy milk like myself they charge an extortionate €2 most places are maximum of 50c.

We chose this restaurant since it was the closest to louvre after a tiring day. We were very hungry and took our chance.

We got seated at the top in a very cramped place (its a small store) and got reprimanded for placing our chair near the dumbwaiter. We didnt know it, sorry.

Then the waiter took our orders:
Sour bread (free) smelly and hard as rock
2 pesto pasta (bland but aromatic pesto)
Chicken tartine (just reguler tartine, crispy on top, soggy at bottom)
Pungent onion soup (dont know how to describe, it was not good. Took few sips and left the rest)
Chicken sandwich (nothing special, just chicken fillet with buns)
Mushroom omelette (highlights of simplicity and tasty)
Hot chocolate (sachet)

When we paid and asked for the receipt, the cashier gladly replied, “ took too long time to make one, no need for receipt”. Bravo. What a lovely response.

Final verdict:
If you’re fit still capable to walk, look for other options. Don’t bother. If you’re dead tired, this could be your reservoir. We lost our gamble, you don’t have to.
