Found this cafe on Google maps and decided to come try it out with friends. The cafe has limited seatings and the line at the front desk had been long at the time we were in the cafe. I had Abuela latte and Abuela pancakes (if you like chocolate as much as I do). It’s a lot of pancake, the latte was pretty good. My friends all ordered the horchata latte and said they were good. The service was great, the waiter and waitress came to check on us many times. Many of the patrons were there to get take outs but I can see it gets busy. There is also outside seating area.
I’ll probably bring my family here next time and try other items on the menu.

Good breakfast or lunch spot. Service breakfast all day. They server beer, micheladas and mimosas. Family friendly. Good coffee, tasty authentic Mexican food! Be prepared to wait to order during peak hours, and it’s a seat yourself style service. Street parking only.

I’ve visited this spot multiple times, and it never disappoints. While it may be on the pricier side, the quality of the food makes it well worth it. They offer a variety of vegetarian and vegan options, including plant-based eggs and cheese, which is a nice touch for those with dietary preferences. They also have alternative milk options, so there’s something for everyone.
The restaurant can get quite busy in the mornings, so be prepared to wait, but I promise it’s worth it. Despite being a small space, the vibe is warm and welcoming, with a strong sense of Mexican heritage reflected in both the atmosphere and the food. The place is always clean, and the staff is attentive and friendly. Plus, the food is made fresh to order, ensuring every dish is delicious. Highly recommend it if you’re in the area!

The service was quick and easy. The ordering was super simple and the options were absolutely awesome for a Mexican spot. They have an indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to eat indoors towards the back the atmosphere has a day of the of the dead vibe, the food came out pretty fast. The coffee here was on point. I have to say I was completely impressed and surprised with not just the pricing and a variety of options that they have but also how quick and friendly their service staff is. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who’s looking to come grab a quick and easy bite or even stop in for a coffee. We got the green chilaquiles with steak and avocado with abuelitas coffee and an orange juice. While we were here, they also shared with us that they’re opening up a Panaderia. It’s called Café y Pan. They were sharing samples of their breads with us. Not too sweet super fluffy absolutely delectable. 10 out of 10 would totally recommend and come back.

The food here was amazing!! I came here with a party of 7 and we tried a little bit of everything, food was DELICIOUS!! For sure tastes as good as it looks!!
The people working here are super sweet, friendly and very accommodating. The decor is very cute as well! I loved the decals with different sayings on the walls and the food as different lotería cards! The atmosphere is overall very welcoming.
I 100% recommend and will definitely be coming back regularly on future California trips! 🙂

The service was great, the cashier was super friendly and attentive. I got the breakfast torta ($13.49) and it was super thickkkk & juicy. I would definitely buy it again! Also, I got the Abuelita Latte. Which has potential, the flavor was okay. It lacked the chocolate abuelita kick. Overall, it’s a good place to hang out in.

Been coming here since it was called cafe calacas and it’s been a great place for coffee or a bite to eat. The wait for brunch on a weekend can be rough, but the food and drink are worth it. They come out with seasonal drinks too and they are generally some of the best around. The baked good behind the counter are also delicious. Love the staff and how friendly everyone is too, very helpful. The building itself is also very unique.

We got there around 12pm on a Sunday. Waited in line an hour. Ordered our food. Food took maybe another 30 minutes. We ordered chilaquiles (red and green), tres leches pancakes, an abuelita coffee with oat milk, and a hibiscus lime soda. Two of us have dairy issues so we ordered the chilaquiles without queso fresco and added vegan cheese. The orders came out with sour cream so we had to wait while they remade them. The hibiscus lime soda was my favorite thing there. I might try it again when the line isn’t so long.
