Cafe Cubano is a gem in Oak Park. The food was incredibly tasty—honestly the closest I’ve had to Cuban food in Cuba. I ordered the ropa vieja and loved it (served with a fresh twist: salad on the side). Finished with a café con leche done right. The place is bright and welcoming with great decor, and the staff was super nice and helpful. Highly recommend. My new place for business lunches too.

Got the vegetarian combo (rice, black beans, plantains, house salad) — thinking I’ll order the rice/beans and fries next time because the plantains taste oily and the combo isn’t worth $13 just by adding salad. Anyway, friendly service, flavorful rice (the beans are somewhat bland but cooked well) and fresh salad. Our server gave us a green salsa that was very tasty and helped season the beans a tad more. My companion got the grilled chicken breast lunch special and enjoyed. Both dishes are pictured. Will be back to try other dishes and patronize the place!

We moved to Oak Park a little over a month ago and have been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times already (we started coming a few weeks before we moved). The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and gets our order right every time, and the atmosphere is very nice! We like to sit by the window so we can people watch while we enjoy the delicious food!

This place was pretty good! My wife and I have been by twice now. I was not aware they were located on North Ave prior, but I am sorry we missed out. This location is good looking with a modest amount of seating.
The steak and lechon jibaritos were amazing. The carna asada with shrimp was awesome as well. Yuca fries were excellent if you are a fan.
The ropa vieja had really good taste, but the texture was not my favorite style for that dish. That said, I left the plate clean lol.
Drinks were well made and great tasting. Both cafe and mixed.
Would definitely recommend passing by!

Had the steak sandwich & I requested it with an over easy egg. Got both the sandwiches with scrambled egg… The waitress was nice and offered to re-make it but due to me being out for lunch I didn’t have time to wait for a remake before I had to go back to work. The steak was SUPER salty & rough. I couldn’t even add hot sauce to it because it’ll make it saltier than it already was. Only ate half. Nice decor and nice waiter. Besides that I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Just go into the city for authentic Cuban food. I’m so disappointed. The food not only looked old and reheated but it was not tasty at all. Barely any flavor and my the Tostones were so hard that I couldn’t bite them. The oil was supposed to be a sauce. This not authentic Cuban food. I’m so upset and really want a refund. The staff were nice though.

My dinner was flavorful The fish was fresh. My tostones were seasoned and cooked perfectly. I left this restaurant completely satisfied and woke up the next day excited to eat my leftovers.
