Absolutely delicious. French cuisine at its finest. Cute atmosphere- perfect for a family meal or special occasion. Every selection from appetizers to main course, soup to dessert was delectable.

Cafe Bretton is what it is because of Victor Ledezma. It’s unique cuisine was created by him and reflects his artistry as a chef. When it closes, this area will lose the best local chef… and whatever moves 5on will be a poor substitute!

All the pictures and reviews make this place look unique, elegant, and upscale. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. I’m being very fair in this post. We had much higher expectations based on pictures and reviews.
Outside looks quaint and somewhat charming – a little rundown looking though.
Menu is confusing with Italian and French cuisine. Believe there were 3 options on the menu for Vegetarians (French Onion Soup, Grilled Portobello Mushrooms, and Caesar Salad). I had Caesar Salad which did not come out looking like a fancy dish or one that anyone cared to plate. (See photo…looks like it was sloppily thrown together.) My husband’s Lamb Chops (wish I took a pic) were small in size like lollipops. They were cooked well. The carrots and green beans were also cooked well. The potatoes left a lot to be desired though. The portions, however, were NOT worth $35.
Wine selection was alright. It was not fantastic by any means. They did not offer very many options for Wine By The Glass. They also only had one sparkling wine which was a cheap Prosecco.
Atmosphere and Cleanliness – When you first walk in, it looks a little disheveled. Chairs that are mismatch, plastic fish hanging on the wall, a whiteboard with the specials not written or posted very daintily, etc. Also, the view of the restaurant when you first walk in is decent with tables that have nice table settings and table cloths. My husband made a reservation and we ended up in the back of the restaurant (3rd restaurant section) which was not fancy like the front. No table cloths either. See other picture. Our table was literally a piece of attempted to be stained and varnished plywood. (I’m sorry, but I and others were dressed very well – plywood…really???) My small plate was dirty. My wine glass was sticky and dirty. I actually picked a piece of food out of it. Next wine glass comes…same thing! I was shocked! They did clean the plywood with Clorox Bleach Wipes though, so at least it was degermed before we sat down. However, my nice black skirt ended up dirty because I sat on food in the booth they sat us in. Our waiter was very slow and not very attentive at all.
Again, it’s posted and reviewed with pictures to show it as upscale. Looks can be deceiving! I am picky, but I am NOT pretentious. Expectations were definitely not met. This restaurant is located in Severna Park. Perhaps those that frequent the place and leave the reviews are so pretentious that they can’t see anything past how expensive the place is – so therefore it must be amazing. Sorry, not for me. If you read this far, thanks! I’d recommend Blackwall Barn and Lodge, Lures, Cooper’s Hawk, and Cafe Mezzanotte (almost right around the corner) over this place ANY DAY! We will not be back. Very disappointed!

We hosted our Holiday party recently at Cafe Bretton and it was just a lovely experience. Mr. Victor was spectacular at coordinating our party beforehand and even went above our expectations by handling a last minute change to our table arrangements. The etiquette of the staff is worthy of praise and even though we ended up staying a bit past closing they still had smiles on their faces. Kudos to Mr. Victor and the staff at Cafe Bretton! The experience was unforgettable.

My wife and I decided to try this due to an awesome review from a co-worker. What a great decision that was! We arrived shortly after doors opened at 5pm. We had escargot and salad to start, which was amazing. I had the house salad, grilled venison sausage (served with mashed potatoes in a berry-port reduction) and the duck also served in the port reduction. My wife had a salad, and the lamb. Between the salads and our mains, we were served fresh bread with butter on the side.
The final tab was twice what we normally spend when we eat out, but well worth it. We’ll definitely return here for special occasions… Everything was simply amazing.
Our server was attentive but not over-bearing. I appreciated that we were offered more bread without my wife having to ask for more. Overall I give the restaurant 5 stars. Absolute delightful experience!

Excellent food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere. Service was pleasant but a little slow, considering that the restaurant wasn’t busy. More wine by the glass options would be great. We were very pleased and will definitely go back.
