Cafe Alsace is the epitome of a cozy ambiance. It’s a great place for brunch and dinner. The menu revolves around French cuisine; some dishes have a German flair. Most dishes have a rich butter profile. One of our favorite entrées is the truite au crabe (trout stuffed with crab, fennel, and apple).

Cafe Alsace was wonderful! I don’t know how I have lived in Atlanta almost 30 years and never made it until now. I ate here for dinner with my wife and 9yo son (he is well behaved and a good eater) and we had an amazing time.

The restaurant is cozy but they do have a few spaces for slightly larger parties. It really feels like you are dining at a friend’s home. The menu has a ton of variety but obviously focusing on the French/German cuisine. Everything we ate was delicious and served in a rustic style. Portions were generous and prices felt very fair!

The service was also great. Very friendly but I wouldn’t say it is a place you want to eat if you are really in a hurry but that is not a bad thing! The meal is paced well and the ambiance is just so enjoyable.

We also all enjoyed deserts and they were also excellent. I would definitely feel comfortable stopping in here for after dinner desserts and coffee even if you don’t enjoy dinner here (but you should!).

I can’t speak highly enough of Cafe Alsace!

One note is that as of this review, they don’t accept reservations for parties less than 4 which is good and bad. In our case we had no issue walking in and getting a table for 3 but if they are full, there really is no space to wait indoors which is worth considering if the weather is bad.

They have some amazing specials as well as solid menu staples. When you order a lunch they offer you soup or salad and we tried the Butternut Squash with one meal and the French Onion with the other. Both did not disappoint! Prices were reasonable too. I think 2 entrees (1 being a special) that each came with the soup and 2 drinks was all around $45 bucks with tip! If you’re looking for some delicious food in the downtown Decatur area you should pop in!

Can’t beat the cuisine. Anything they serve is amongst the best you’ll ever eat. Exquisite dishes severed beautifully. We’ve never had anything but great food here. The service is great and the staff is super friendly and accommodating. We had the special which was rabbit leg over spaetzle and was like coq a vin except with rabbit. Our desert was a grand marnier mousse with a pistachio macaron and was maybe the best desert we’ve ever had. If you’re in the area give this place a chance, we think you’ll love it like we do.

It is hard to beat the cuisine of this long standing Decatur restaurant, the best there is in that area in my opinion. The authentic Alsacian dishes are made with fresh ingredients and I have never had one that was not outstanding. The service is friendly and the only thing is that one has often to wait for a table at night because it is usually pretty busy, the owners having resisted to increase the size of their place in favor of the quality of what they serve. Closed on Sundays and Mondays..

While strolling through the charming streets of Decatur, I discovered a little gem of a French restaurant that instantly transported me back to Europe. It had been quite some time since I’d tasted good pâté since moving to the U.S., but their pâté en baguette was simply magnifique — rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

To top it off, the crème brûlée was perfection — silky smooth with the most satisfying caramelized crust.

From the warm, attentive service to the cozy, inviting atmosphere, every detail felt thoughtfully French. Un grand merci for such a lovely experience! 10/10 — I can’t wait to return and enjoy it all over again.

Loved our experience here. This place is small and so busy! Lots of people in and out which made for great people watching.

The food was traditional and outstanding. Their onion soup was divine and their tomato soup was almost as good. I loved my Brie sandwich. My husband’s dish (crepe) wasn’t as good as my entree but still very tasty. Their macarons were so freaking good. We ordered the strawberry and chocolate and both were soft and exquisite. Their pecan cookies were similar to sandies but kept their shape much better. It also came with some chocolates that were very good. The creme brulee was excellent albeit cold.

The vibe is amazing. We literally felt like we were in a cafe in the middle of France. The family pictures on the walls really made the place feel cozy and warm. The service was awesome. The owner was very pleasant and kind and welcoming.

Highly recommend!!!

Loved eating here today. The food was fantastic, cute space! Price was very reasonable. I got some macarons to take home and they are probably the best I’ve ever had. The staff was very nice and attentive. I will definitely be back.

Fabulous lunch with friends at this cozy French cafe. Fair- priced menu selections. Tried and shared items on the menu, all very good, yummy chocolate dessert, shout out to Benjamin for the warm welcome, friendly service, and surprise birthday candle on dessert! Appreciate it that we were not hurried but allowed to linger, and enjoy our lovely afternoon together.

A tiny cute place, very unpretentious for a French restaurant. 12 tables i side plus two outdoors on the sidewalk….that’s all. Came on a random Thursday, and every table was occupied. Wonderful for romantic dates be cause of its intimacy. Service was impeccable, not too rushed, not overbearing, and very efficient. The food…..OMG! The Nage de Staint Jaques (it’s a mouthful) but basically it’s scallop, shrimp, salmon, in Bouillabaisse (read: soup) style, was Out-of-this-world good !!!!!. If I was local I would be ordering that once a week, maybe twice on cold days! Decent, but not huge wine list. Prices are very, very reasonable. My seafood soup was enough for two people and was $25, while down the road, another place was selling ONE octopus tentacles for $28 !!!!! If you are even a little bit predisposed to French cuisine, GO there!
