So so disappointed!! Obviously nothing like the chef Silvio who owned and cooked here some time ago. Italian pasta should not be smothered in gooey melted cheese!!! That’s an American bastardization!! This gnocchi dish was supposed to have “Sunday sauce”!! Please don’t advertise as Sunday sauce!! Instead it had very limited pinkish sauce. And so much melted cheese that one could not get at the gnocchi!!! Come on!!
The single side of a meatball was pretty good as was the fried calamari. Fried artichokes very heavy batter. Not returning anytime soon.

What a beautiful restaurant! We arrived just when they opened on a Saturday evening. I had to walk around to explore the many different dining areas. There is one table in front of a fireplace that I thought looked very romantic. Our waiter, Bill, provided impeccable service. He was attentive and friendly and went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable (I was wearing a walking boot due to an ankle injury.) The chairs in the dining room were comfortable and had a nice cushion. The tables were set with a crisp tablecloth, and there seemed to be an endless supply of warm bread on our table. We tried several appetizers, including the stuffed mushrooms and clams casino. I had the halibut for dinner and shared the Lava cake. All were exquisitely prepared and delicious. Looking forward to coming back to Cafe Allegra.

Visited here last night for a private event with a prix fixe menu. We were pleased with the variety of options, and everything we had was delicious. The New York Style calamari was really flavorful and had just the right amount of spice, and the steak was cooked perfectly to everyone’s liking. I thought that the deconstructed banana split was a really unique dessert, and I really enjoyed it! It features Doughwich’s ice cream sandwich and is a great way to support a local business. I hope to come back here soon and try more items from their menu!

Sat down for 1st experience at this highly recommended restaurant. Our waitress Johanna must have been having a horrible night as No Smile, No Greeting and very quiet – no engagement at all. Placed our order, asked for bread – she said no problem – dinner arrived in less than 10 minutes – still no bread – had to remind her once again. She never came back to ask us if we needed anything or how was our meal. We needed to have our water glasses replenished and couldn’t find her. Service was extremely poor and not attentive.

Better service at the local dinner – pass on this place – not worth the engagement.

So far the best restaurant in Madison, CT and nearby towns starting from fantastic service, food and seating.

We had an early dinner, it was not crowded, had a nice table outside, very good atmosphere. The food was delicious. We ordered garlic bread, eggplant rollatini (5stars for this appetizer), arugula beet salad with goat cheese from the specials (amazing) and penne ala vodka.
For dessert chocolate lava cake and afogato. Bellissima!

Service was superb, our waiter Willmar was great, attentive and friendly.
Great dining experience!

Cafe Allegre lives up to its name—a place that feels both cheerful and serene. The calm ambiance wraps around you like a warm hug, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The chicken parm? Absolutely divine. It’s a perfect balance of crispy breading, gooey cheese, and rich marinara sauce that feels like it was made with love. And the espresso martini? Pure magic. It’s smooth, bold, and just the right mix of indulgence and energy. Whether you’re in the mood for a relaxed dinner or a lively chat over drinks, Cafe Allegre strikes all the right chords.

Missed happy hours by 2 minutes which has amazing half price apps. Ordered large sandwich. Grilled chicken w/ balsamic vinagrette. Festive place during the holidays.

Honestly don’t see the hype with this place. Went here a few nights after Christmas with family. We were told by so many people that this is the best in town and in my opinion it was just eh. Felt like we waited forever for the food. Bread was crumbly and fell apart. Calamari was good. When we finally got our dinner the chicken parm was good. One of us got filet mignon bordelaise- asked for it medium rare and it got it well done.

The place was clean and nicely decorated. Street parking and parking lot in the back.
