Café Abiquiú offers casual dining in a charming setting adorned with works by local artists. You’ll find seasonal & specialty beverages, local beers, wines and traditional Northern New Mexico favorites.
Homemade American Southwestern dishes are handcrafted from fresh, local ingredients. We have vegetarian & vegan options, delicious desserts and a variety of seasonal menus at hand. Dine in the vibrant atmosphere inside Café Abiquiú, or enjoy your meal outdoors on The Terrace, where your pets are welcome.
Excellent food. We order the “Paint Your Omelette and the Copper Canyon Eggs Benedict”. The coffee was great.
You need to stop here.
You’ll thank me later.
The only negative was an annoying barking dog belonging to a customer.
We loved the food and the presentation of the food.
We eagerly anticipated the salmon from last year. Unfortunately, it is evident that the chefs have changed.
Never have I ever had a taco salad with rice pilaf (carrots and peas) on the bottom of the shell. Nor have I ever eaten Chipotle mayonnaise on a beef taco with cabbage. But the worst part was the chopped green chile, a New Mexico staple. No salt, no garlic, and dry.
Having said this, our service and the ambience was fantastic. Elora was attentive, funny, sweet, and went above and beyond to serve our table. Ten plus stars for Elora.
Eat at Phillips 66. Better service and food.
10 minutes to be greeted at door.
After dropping us off at our table we continued to wait and be ignored. No greetings, waters, or apologies from any staff who were circling around the patio. Manager didn’t even say anything.
After 25+ minutes we walked out.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO WAIT the good news is they don’t seem to be eager for tips, so save your money.
IF YOU CHOOSE TO LEAVE there is a Phillips 66 that serves hot delicious food and appears to cook faster than this place.
Note to the manager: If anyone had just greeted or acknowledged us, we would have stayed. Waters while we waited 20+ min. would have been a plus.
(So this is about the tamal)
The tamal could have been rescued with less lime in the guacamole, and a rethinking of what they wanted to do with the tamal; which was just this Pla-Doh texture mush, shaped into a round and fried like a crabcake. If the base was nixtamal, they need a coarser grind. (I’m thinking of the cake like tamales of central Mexico. To go for a tamal dorado riff in other words). If it was a cornbread base, they REALLY need to rethink their basic recipe and consider a lighter, more textured, less dense cornbread dressing recipe.
Then again, if this is a local regional dish as prepared, authenticity willl always trump personal taste. But I, personally, thought it sucked.
Pretty to look at though.
Even though this review is long overdue, our experience at Café Abiquiu & LaTerraza deserves to be shared. We hosted our reception in their outdoor space, and it was nothing short of magical. The setting is so naturally beautiful that very little additional décor was needed. The surrounding scenery is absolutely stunning and created the perfect backdrop for photos we will treasure forever.
From start to finish, the management went above and beyond to make our day truly special. Their care, attention, and genuine kindness did not go unnoticed. The staff was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, making us and our guests feel so well taken care of.
And the food…absolutely amazing. Our guests are still talking about it.
Café Abiquiu & LaTerraza played such a meaningful role in one of the most important days of our lives, and they will always have a special place in our hearts. We couldn’t recommend them more highly.
