I’ve been to nearly every restaurant in Port Austin and this is by far the highest quality experience I’ve had.

1. Quality. Everywhere else I went in town seemed to utilize frozen foods. However, everything here was fresh, cooked to order. You could literally see them cooking it, so please disregard the other reviewer who claimed the food had been microwaved. The coffee was delicious, best in town. All the food exceeded our expectations, the hash browns, the pancakes, the breakfast sandwich, the breakfast burrito. Even the salsa seemed to have been made in house.
2. Pricing. I went with my wife and my niece and all three of us had a delicious meal and drinks for $26.00. you can get an awesome breakfast burrito here for $8 and it will fill you up.
3. Service – the two young ladies who were working we’re so friendly. We were greeted immediately with a smile and shown to our table. I had my infant son with me and they set me up right away with a nice high chair. Towards the end of our meal, our waitress came over and offered us complimentary coffees to go because she knew we had a road trip ahead of us.
4. Cleanliness. The cafe and the bathroom were spotless.

This is hands down the best food in town, it was a highlight of our trip this year. I will come back here every time I go to Port Austin.

A plain small town diner with good food. They DO have hot tea, it’s just not on their menu. I had a huge portion of avocado toast with fried egg, and a side of fried potatoes. The avocado toast was good though a bit plain, and the potatoes were slightly greasy (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing lol) – but overall it was a welcome breakfast! It’s a small place, so in the offseason/shoulder season it was fine for seating, but I’d imagine in the summer it fills up really fast.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a whim after camping and absolutely loved this place! Seriously some of the best breakfast food we’ve ever had somehow. We couldn’t stop talking about it. The onions, peppers, gravy, even down to the perfectly wrapped tortilla were so fresh and delicious!! Prices are freakin amazing too.
Thank you cafe 53!!

I read some reviews before going and wasn’t entirely sure on whether I should go or not. Upon going ahead and trying it out I can confidently say the 1 star reviews I saw before hand are a complete joke and shouldn’t be taken seriously in any sense. The food was fantastic and clearly fresh. The price was very cheap me and my girlfriend left full and barely spent a total of 20$ and to add on the staff was all professional and extremely kind. You cannot go wrong coming here

This charming little cafe is a family favorite! A place where the staff are always personal and welcoming. Our breakfasts have always been excellent and the quantity exceeded our expectations. The price for each item is unbelievably low! Even the kids portions are extremely generous. The biscuits and gravy have “homemade”written all over them. While we adore the Port Austin location and its easy access, we’ve recently dined at their original location in Bad Axe with another fantastic experience. Don’t hesitate to stop in, even for a sandwich to go and cup of coffee!

Not sure what the couple one star reviewers are talking about. This is a great little spot for breakfast! We walked in & were served right away, food was FRESH, simple, and delicious. Patio seating was nice and pricing is very reasonable, was honestly surprised how low it was. All of the employees were very kind & helpful!

Everything was great and affordable. I got eggs, toast, bacon and potatoes. Had to leave a review because I think the old reviews are out of date.
It’s a nice little breakfast joint and I don’t know anything about the lunch and dinner stuff.

I came up here with my current girlfriend after a recent divorce and ordered far to many entrees only minutes before close. The bread was soft, the coffee hot, and the staff replaced a missing egg without too much fuss. I have to admit, when I first entered I expected us to be escorted out due to the time, but the staff was cooperative, the food was great, and they provided ample to go boxes before we left. 10/10

Breakfast?? Disappointing at best. It’s difficult to be let down for Breakfast at a restaurant, but the Port Austin Location does exactly that. The breakfast menu is Minimal. No Omelets, no eggs to order, no toast, the “Hash Browns” are simply Frozen Triangles warmed up (not even deep fried), in fact, it seams, All of the food is poor quality Frozen items! The sausage patties, the potato triangles, even the Cinnamon Rolls seem to be Thawed items then served. The choices on the menu are in large print and only fill One standard size page. What was good? The bacon! The coffee was mediocre. The Sausage gravy was “not the best, but good”. The Crepes were great though! The servers were friendly, but services were a bit slow. It’s hard to disappoint me with breakfast, but from the time I looked over the menu to finishing my meal, Cafe 53 North (Port Austin) did just that. I would recommend finding an alternative restaurant for breakfast. (Please Note: The Wraps we had for Lunch the day before were pretty good though!) Wish my breakfast experience was better here.
