Just a nice classic diner to go for breakfast when you’re in town. I really enjoyed my omelette, but left on the stove just a little too long.

Nice little sit down for breakfast. Food was really good. Coffee was great! The staff was friendly. Prices were good! Unfortunately we didn’t have room for the yummy looking baked goods. Next time!

It’s such a great place! Love all the baked goods, and it’s so awesome to have something local that offers things you would find in the big cities. Specials Monday through Friday that average $9. They usually switch from breakfast to lunch between 11a to 11:30a, except breakfast only on Sunday and open until 1p. If you like to go when there’s a smaller crowd of people, go between 7a-9a or 1p-3p.
They also offer catering for events and usually offer special options for ordering for holidays.

I went in with two others for breakfast on a Tuesday. The special was biscuits & gravy. The gravy was OK – not great but not terrible – but that didn’t matter. The biscuits were extremely hard, couldn’t even cut them with a butter knife, and that is not an exaggeration; they were inedible. Any cook serving those biscuits should not keep his job, and I don’t mean that as hyperbole. Another in our party ordered over easy eggs, and they were served over-hard with the yolks cooked. That’s also on the cook, but it was clearly visible to the server as well. Other food in our party: good pancakes, good omelette, and good hash browns. So some food was good, but one breakfast inedible, another was degraded, and in a party of 3, that is enough for a one-star food rating.

We were very polite when talking to the server about the problems, and she was understanding at first, but her attitude quickly turned south, and she did not really acknowledge or fully address the problems.

I realize that this is not a 5-star establishment, but this was a bad dining experience and I would have hoped for a little better.

Food was good. The service was terrible. She took our order, someone else brought it out and we never saw our waitress until it was time to get the bill. Won’t be back.

The food here was so good! Definitely going to stop by here the next time I’m in town. We got the biscuits and gravy and the corn beef hash and the food was fresh. Coffee was good too I like that they had different creamer options. Glad it was my last food stop before leaving

Cafe 53 catered my mom’s end of life celebration in Caseville, MI. The chicken was delicious and crispy, the polish sausage and Kraut tender, and the potato salad was just like my mom’s. They leave room for seconds. Reasonably priced.
