DO NOT TRUST THE MENU!

MAJOR RED FLAG FOR THOSE WITH CELIAC DISEASE AND GLUTEN FREE. The menu has red stars next to some dishes and at the bottom of the menu it says “Contains Gluten”. The problem is there are many more items that should have red stars next to them. See the photo from the kids selection, all those items have gluten. Then the second page has no stars.

Other than that the food was great!! I asked the waitress to confirm with the chef if the dish I ordered was gluten-free and she did.

Absolutely delicious, Crystal was very attentive and kind. Hannah was also gracious I ordered the salmon and broccoli, shots and soda …good food, good people, and absolutely stunning environment. Oh and the saxophone player really added to the ambiance of the place

We’ve never had a bad meal or service. We can always rely on Cactus Taverna to be consistent in their quality. A wonderful place to go to celebrate or enjoy a nice meal.

**Here I am with an update. I’ve been several times since my last review and my opinion is still the same. Tonight we had the Valentine’s special and chose stuffed shrimp, stuffed grouper, Filet with crab, and reese’s Smith Island cake. We absolutely love Cactus Taverna and are never disappointed with the staff or food. Another wonderfully special meal

We were immediately greeted and immediately seated. Our server, Sarah was awesome! She is very pleasant and attentive. She explained all of the special appetizers and entrees. The food here is very good and the portions are just right. For entrees we had Mariacos Saltados and Blackened Salmon with Shrimp and Scallops. We are asked for bread and butter and water with lemon and no ice. Everything was delicious, filling, and we had a great experience.

My wife and I wanted to try this place because of the good reviews but we should have checked the bad reviews, since they are all spot on.

You get free chips and salsa at the table. Not much salsa and the chips are really bland with no salt. You will find that bland is a common theme here. Plaza Tapatia or La Tolteca offer better chips, better sauce, and more of both.

We had shrimp and crab dip as an apetizer and this was pretty decent. Nothing to brag about, but decent.

I ordered the surf and turf. This turns out to be a small cut of steak with crab imperial on it and 4 regular shrimp. The texture of the steak was off. It did not taste like a real steak, but more like if the hospital served you a steak. Or maybe Denny’s steak. The whole thing had the taste of a meal that had been cooked and frozen, then heated up to serve. That’s just a guess. It was edible but not good.

The wife tried the lomo saltado. Not sure about spelling. If I were you, I would avoid this one altogether. Bland sauce. Bland veggies. Extra bland beef. It just tasted like something thrown together and not cooked together since the beef had not absorbed any flavor from the sauce.

Service and decor are both pretty good. No real problems there, but not good enough to make you want to pay good money for bad food. I like to support local small business but this place should be avoided. Overall 1 star.

Hooyah !!! ….THIS IS A RESTAURANT!!! If the Spartans stopped here, that’s what they would say… I’m on this med journey, and yet Agian, you didn’t disappoint. This was the only restaurant that I would have given it a perfect score and then two michillen stars . The food was confort food with great wine spices and the Chai tea was to die for the customers service was very quick and the wait time for food was very short …I don’t mean very short. The lamb shank was falling off the bone, and i had to go get a ladder. On how much the meat fallening off the bone the atmosphere was cozy and friendly. The desserts were made fresh, and the wine and dark whiskey was “the lotus of the orient.” It’s a great mix of European Spain dishes with Mediterranean dishes …overall. Good job, guys
Vets are welcome, and please make sure you bring money to this restaurant… lots of it !!!!

Do Not Judge a Book By Its Cover. It looks plain from the outside but its beautiful on the inside. I initially thought it was a fast-food Mexican restaurant, until I went inside…It’s an elegant Mediterranean style cafe’. The serving staff was all smartly dressed, there was a pianist setting the atmosphere, and the ambiance was romantic. At the end of the meal (which was only an appetizer) came complimentary port wines. Call the baby sitter, date night is a must.

Excellent and Yummy! We hadn’t been there in more than a year, mainly because they’re not open for lunch, and we live almost an hour away in Delaware, but this was our 8th visit and it was as delicious as every other meal we’ve had there. Service and atmosphere are outstanding. I had the Rack of Lamb cooked perfectly and escargot, which was very tasty but different than expected, and nothing like ever had. My wife had the Caprese Salad and the Eggplant Barco and totally enjoyed both. The Sangria was one of the best ever, and my drinks was a special of the day, which I don’t recall the, not because it too strong was very delectable. A neighborhood gem.

Has been my favorite dinner destination in Salisbury for years- everything they make is delicious and affordable for the high quality of food you receive. Wonderful experience and atmosphere, I get the Alligator bites every time and would recommend them to everyone. I usually get a daily special and every meal is made to perfection. On top of wonderful appetizers and entrees, the best way to top it off is with their strawberries and cream. I can not even put into words how wonderful they are, but if you’re a little lad that loves berries and cream you have to try cactus tavernas!!

Was just driving by, but thought it sounded interesting. Wow, I was impressed from the moment we opened the front door. Lots of atmosphere. And a live keyboard player the whole meal. Fast and responsive help. Absolutely delicious, beautifully displayed appetizer, dinner, and dessert. Very good prices for high quality experience, and good portions.
