UPDATE: Quesabirria (tacos) come with the juice. You can order anything as a plate for an upcharge (rice and beans). Tamale rojos are very delicious and cost $3 each.
Update: Went back and ended up giving another Star on the Food. The chicharron was pretty flavorful. The Asada wasn’t bad either. Definitely recommend the Horchata though ⛽️⛽️
Being my first time to visit, I tried quite a few things.
The meats were above average, but if you prefer spice or heavier seasonings, you might leave disappointed.
On the other hand, the pozole was incredible and packed with tender pork and spices to make you write home about.
They offer 4 different salsas, and each were unique and full of flavor!
Stop by and try these guys out.
If you’re looking for real Mexican food in OKC, you have to check out Cactus Tacos — located at 36 W Memorial Rd Unit B4, right between Edmond and Oklahoma City, just off the turnpike. Whether you’re coming from Downtown OKC, Southwest OKC, Midwest City, Mustang, Yukon, Norman, Moore, or anywhere in the OKC Metro area — this spot is worth the drive.
This place is extra special to me because it’s family-owned by the Diaz family — my relatives — and they’ve brought the homestyle flavors of Central Mexico right here to the metro. Their years of experience in the food industry truly shine through every bite.
Let’s talk about the menu — it’s massive and full of options for everyone:
• Gorditas, Mulletas, Sopes, Quesadillas, and Cocteles
• Healthy taco salads
• A full lineup of enchiladas, including:
• Enchiladas Verdes (green sauce)
• Enchiladas Blancas (creamy white sauce)
• Chili Cheese Enchiladas — served with perfectly cooked Mexican rice and refried beans. One of their most popular dishes and an absolute must!
You’ll also find:
• Crispy tacos, Tamales, Chiles Rellenos, Guisos, Chilaquiles, Birria, Flautas, Nachos, Tortas, and loaded burrito plates
• Even hamburgers, kids meals, and Menudo on the weekends
With 16+ meat and guiso options, there’s no shortage of delicious variety for tacos, burritos, and gorditas.
Don’t forget the extras:
• ☕️ Café de olla (Mexican spiced coffee)
• Desserts
• Domestic and Mexican beer
• Jarritos, soda pop, and Aguas Frescas
The place is always clean and welcoming, with friendly staff and fast service whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout. They also have several salsa options, chips, and melted cheese/queso for a full-on taco shop experience.
And look — I know you might think I’m biased because they’re family, but Cactus Tacos truly delivers A+ flavor and top-notch quality. This is one of those spots you visit once… and keep coming back to.
Try it once — and you’ll become a regular. Guaranteed.

It is a hole in the wall but the vibe was appropriate for Mexican.
The service at the counter was very good, the young lady was patient taking our order and knew the menu well enough to make helpful suggestions.
The food was better than good! Everything was well seasoned from the entrees to the sides, all cooked correctly and with passion. Plentiful portions. The oil my flautas were fried in was obviously clean, best I have ever had. Carne Asada was tender and delicious.
Tortillas so fresh because they’re made in house.
Reasonable prices and a wide selection of menu items.
If you’re in the area, I recommend coming to give this place a try. It is a hidden gem.
