All in all, not a bad night out. I really love the people there but service was good but not great. I ran out of water a couple of times. I ordered the steak fajitas, the steak was extremely tough (if using such low quality steak, you should cut it a lot thinner). I had to send it back, I couldn’t chew it. I also tried the shredded chicken burrito… It was tender but didn’t seem to have much flavor. The veggie enchiladas were delicious though. And I must say I did enjoy the salsa and chips. The hot salsa had great flavor and the others were very good as well. I always give newer restaurants an honest review but the benefit of the doubt. I may have caught them on a bad night, so I will give them another try sometime soon and you should give them a try too.

Family owned. Locally sourced food. Friendly staff. Good service. The fish street tacos were very good. My companion had the fajita burrito and said it was one of the best things she’d ever eaten. We will go back.

Best steak fajitas in the area. Most all the places around here have the same thin strand steak for their fajitas. Not Cabos…. thick delicious pieces of steak, cooked perfectly. Kids quesadilla and beef taco were excellent as well. Chips were the perfect thin and crispy.

Visited Cabos Bonitos Grill & Cantina last night for our Friday Night First dinner. First let me say I am not a food connoisseur, I like what I like. Anyway the food here was delicious!!! The fried avocados were amazing lots of good flavor in those. They serve a warm salsa and a cold salsa and they were delicious. The guacamole and queso cheese was really good also. My wife had the chicken fajitas and I had the steak chimichanga. Both meats were so tender and full of flavor. For dessert I had flan and it was so creamy!!! Anyway they are where Maria’s used to be on South Avenue. The staff was super friendly and the we had no problems with anything.

I never leave reviews hir had to for this place. The service alone was so wonderful, making sure we had everything we needed without being over bearing. The waiter even asked my husband if his sweet tea was sweet enough because they make it batch by batch. The food was incredible and we will definitely be back!

Cabos Bonitos Grill & Cantina is an absolute revelation! Having dined at countless Mexican restaurants in Springfield, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional experience I had here.

From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was inviting and the view of downtown Springfield from our window seat was simply perfect. The service was outstanding, with our server being attentive and friendly. The owners even took the time to chat with us, making us feel genuinely welcomed.

But let’s talk about the food and drinks. The margarita was undoubtedly the best I’ve ever had. Flavorful, refreshing, and simply divine. As for the food, every dish we ordered was a masterpiece. The flavors were bold and authentic, a stark contrast to the bland options we’ve encountered elsewhere.

Parking was a breeze, which is a rare find in downtown Springfield. While the previous Mexican restaurant at this location was decent, Cabos Bonitos has undeniably raised the bar. This place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Mexican cuisine in a charming setting. Keep up the fantastic work, Cabos Bonitos!

I legit wanted to gatekeep this place, but I can’t in good conscience. The food is fresh and full of flavor, queso was delicious and wasn’t too spicy for my kiddos, two kinds of salsa were both perfectly seasoned! Service was great and atmosphere is welcoming. This is, by far, my favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield! Take the time to check this place out, you won’t be disappointed!

I feel awful to have not updated this review sooner.
Updated from 3 to 4:

I returned here several months after my initial review to find one of the best examples of taking feedback from reviews that I have ever seen. More variety on the menu and most importantly changes to the recipes. Everything is now very well seasoned and full of flavor! While it is not the absolute best I have ever had in other states, it IS one of the best options downtown.

Staff is is also very friendly and service is wonderful!

Original Review: Opening Week
I stopped in for the first time excited to see a Mexican restaurant back in the downtown area. Everything looks very promising. Service was some of the best and food was all out in a flash!

When I first sat I was asked about what salsas id like rather than having them bring out the default right away like most places. I got a set of all 3. A regular, a Verde thick sauce served warm and a Habanero based salsa which was thin. They looked great….but they didn’t seem to have any real flavor. None had any real kick or even just that savory flavor you might expect from a tomato based salsa.

I ordered a ground beef burrito with Spanish rice and a bean soup with bacon sausages and other garnishes. I tried the beans first and they were Really Good. The flavors mixed very well. The rice and the burrito though…they were unfortunately just bland. All the ingredients were there, your beef cheese chili con carne on the top. It’s just there wasn’t much flavor to any of it.

It is important to note, I LOVE spice so it could be a pallet issue and none of the food was bad by any means.

The service is great, the portions are beyond fair and the environment is nice.

My wife and I stopped in for the first time a few days ago and had dinner; steak tacos and a couple sides. Great service, quick. Everything fresh and hot and cooked just right; chips were thin and crispy and the salsa was great. Delicious!! But what really blew us away was the ‘drunken’ beans…folks, honestly, they were absolutely mouth-watering…the best we have ever had, anywhere. I’ve traveled all over the country and ate at many many Mexican restaurants. Never had beans this good. I;ve never said this about any restaurant before but I will now…whatever the owner’s recipe is for the ‘drunken beans’ I would highly suggest he get a patent on it. I would give Cabos Bonitos 10 stars if I could. In fact the ‘drunken beans’ were so good I stopped by the other evening and got two large containers to go, one for me, one for my wife. Great service, awesome food, great prices, overall superb. I highly, highly recommend Cabos Bonitos.
