Honestly I can only speak for the okoy and some baked goods but this place is absolutely bussin and worth the drive wherever you may be comin from

20 pc okoy for $40, comes with the classic, lifechanging sawsawan (aka dip for yall who are learning Tagalog) of vinegar, pepper, and garlic.

The biko was super good, chewy, and not too sweet and maja blanca was great too!

Super kind service too!!

I came here while traveling and essentially just asked for a plate of anything, because I am not familiar with Filipino foods. Everything I tried was delicious and the price was good. They close early though so keep that in mind if you want to go for dinner.

I like trying new food so I went to Cabalen with my girlfriend and daughter to check out some Filipino food.

The staff was helpful and friendly in helping us to choose a couple of options. The food was very tasty and the price was right.

There was a small area for indoor dining and it was clean and efficient.

The three of us enjoyed what we ate. It was definitely worthwhile to go there.

After a little walk at Jacksonville Arboretum and Garden, my wife and I stopped by for lunch. It’s cafeteria style and we ordered two combos and pancit palabok. First combination plate was fried rice with lechon and pork adobo. Second plate was fried rice with Bicol Express and Pinakbet. Enjoyed everything. Authentic Filipino food if you looking for one. Great service too.

I wanted to give this place a chance but most everything was pork. I don’t eat pork so I could not risk it. Good luck if you like that sort of thing.

Absolutely what I wanted, absolutely what I expected! Finding a nice simple eatery with a good menu was long overdue and happy to have found them. Food was just perfect and though the photo will not do this plate justice, I’m a big boy and it’s got me ready for a nap.

Combo plate pork adobo, rice with some adobo sauce and hot sauce of course, and menudo. Well priced! Give them a visit for sure!

Went here on Saturday with my wife who is from Palawan. The food was very good and hot and they had a decent selection for a turo-turo establishment. Appeared to have eight or 10 choices and the price was reasonable. Will definitely visit again next time we are in town.

We came in 15 mins before they were closing. The lady accommodated us with our orders. There wasn’t a lot of option left as they were closing but we got halo-halo and Bicol express. I like the halo-halo even though they were out of Leche flan, it was still good. My half-Filipino kids tried their Bicol express and they enjoyed it very much especially my son. Only thing was it was very warm inside considering the weather outside b/t 85-90 degrees F. Overall, we liked what we ordered and we’ll be coming back to try different dish while on vacation here in Jacksonville.
Next day we came back and got longganisa and dinuguan .

This is a nice, small Filipino restaurant with a laid-back vibe—no attitude, just good, honest food. The service is fast, the staff is friendly, and everything feels genuine. A great spot if you’re looking for authentic Filipino dishes served without the fuss.

This is a hidden gem in plain sight!

I wanted to get some food from the Philippines, and Cabalen did not disappoint me! I had the pork adobo, Lumpiang Shanghai, and of course Coke Lite.

The meal was delicious, very filling, and the service was outstanding. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and the Filipino news that was on the tele.

If I am in the area again, I will return here! I recommend Cabalen Restaurant to everyone!
