C.Q. stands for Chongqing. I always love a good spicy noodle place with the extra wide noodles, so I was excited to try this out. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet my expectations.

I got this chicken noodle soup, but it literally came with zero chicken 😐 I think it was just the chicken broth. There was a scoop of beans for a it of protein, but otherwise I stole some of my husband’s beef rib (a little chewy, not as tender as I’d like).

The belt noodles look wide and delicious, but it turned out to be quite disappointingly soggy. It didn’t taste fresh like I would expect for house-made hand pulled noodles. The broth had good flavor, but I didn’t find it spicy at all.

The redemption factor was the portions; the bowl was filled with noodles. I also loved how you could add veggies for a small charge, and I was happy with the little dish of bok choy on the side. It paired great with the broth, and I had a moment soaking in the hot pot vibes.

The space is small and simple, nothing flashy. There are several tables along with counter seating along the way. For our group of 5, they squeezed in an extra chair for a small square table, next to the entrance. The positioning of our chairs was awkward and it wasn’t the most comfy dining experience.

I’ll be sticking to my noodle staples (QQ Noodle, Ox9, Highland) for now.

Their “pugai” noodle which loosely translates to “wide/broad” noodles (as compared to thin noodles) is a must-try! Great texture and taste at the same time. Chewy yet tender. Love!

Tried the Wan Za Noodles (minced pork and chickpea noodles) for the first time, and the flavor was quite good. I liked that you can choose the type of noodles for any broth base. We also ordered the crispy fried pork, but it was a bit disappointing—it felt dry and not juicy. I hope they can improve the quality of their snacks/sides.

As a regular to the former location in SF, I needed to try this one out too. I’d say that it isn’t as good as the previous location, but it’s still really good. I’d definitely come back if I was craving the flavor profiles of chongqing. Service was also pretty fast and it’s one of those spots that may be a little unapproachable, but it’s actually a hidden gem.

Very delicious and authentic noodle soups. The texture of noodle is very chewy and tender, the flavors of the broth and beef are rich as well.

I had a mixed experience dining here. When my food was served, both the plate and the bowl were chipped/broken. This was disappointing and concerning from a hygiene and presentation perspective. To their credit, the staff did replace my noodle dish after I mentioned it, which I appreciate. I didn’t ask to replace the cold dish.

The overall flavor was decent. However, my Spicy Chicken Noodles (辣子鸡面) had a noticeable burnt chili taste. The chili oil in the marinated pig ear dish was also bitter, which affected the enjoyment of the food.

Later that night, I experienced significant stomach discomfort and acid reflux. I want to clarify that I am not someone who cannot handle spicy food — I regularly enjoy rich dishes like beef tallow hot pot without issues. I am, however, quite sensitive to cooking oil quality. In my personal experience, when oil is not very fresh or has been overheated, I tend to feel unwell afterward. While I cannot be certain, this may have contributed to how I felt.

There is potential here, and I appreciate the staff’s willingness to correct the noodle dish, but the broken dishware and the burnt/bitter chili oil are areas that need improvement.

My mom and I are from Chongqing, and I have to say—the flavor here is super authentic! The chili oil sauce tastes exactly like how I remember Chongqing food should be!
