It was okay but not what we were expecting. The tri-tip sandwich had chunks of meat instead of thin slices. The meat was tender but not at all what we were expecting. The collard greens were not flavorful but had a nice texture. They were just missing salt and seasoning. The salmon salad had cheese on it.. why?! The salmon was seasoned nice but overcooked and, again, why cheese on a fish salad?! The service was quick and the girl who took our order was nice enough but didn’t smile. We came around 8:30 on a Saturday, so maybe it was just too close to their closing time for them to care. Overall, there are other places to try before we give this spot a second visit.

Thoroughly impressed by this place! I ordered takeout, I got a 2 meat combo with thick cut tri tip and baby back ribs with a baked potato and green beans. I was shocked to see just how much meat came in the box, really nice big pieces of tri tip and super meaty ribs, wow I’m blown away for $24 seriously. The sides are on the smaller side so if you like larger sides I would recommend upgrading to a bigger size.

Great place to eat. The staff is friendly, nice atmosphere with a jazz theme and the service was great. This was my first time going here and the food was great. The BBQ chicken is a must have. The chicken was tender and moist. The ribs was delicious with its sweet BBQ sauce and Mac and cheese was not bad. Their peach cobbler was amazing with the vanilla bean ice cream.

Nothing to rave about or want me to go out of my way to come here, but it is good barbecue and the serving sizes are modest. It can’t be a little hard to find, and it is counter service with only a few tables inside. The only thing I thought was missing was they didn’t give you wet wipes for your fingers.

I never go there without getting a pulled pork sandwich. I’m picky when it comes to meat, but CJ’s pulled pork sandwiches are to die for! They’re messy but truly worth it. I couldn’t ask for a more delightful flavor or texture.
The cashier lady who works there was quiet so I had a bit of a hard time hearing everything she said, but she’s very sweet and friendly. The music there is great and both me and the cashier lady ended up singing along. It was easily one of the most fun dining experiences I’ve had so far.
CJ’s is a very small restaurant. If I recall correctly, it used to be at least twice as spacious and in the same location but with a different, easier to find entrance. I missed back when there were photos on the wall. They do, however, have a cute tip jar and even souvenir shirts, and like I said, the music is lovely. There a couple places to sit inside and plenty outside, and honestly there’s kind of a cozy charm to how small the restaurant is. But my favorite part of the atmosphere would have to be, well, the literal atmosphere. Not only does the restaurant smell good, but the grill outside smells so delicious that I can practically taste it! The aroma is so appetizing that I could be stuffed past my breaking point and it’ll still make me feel like I haven’t eaten in years.
I’ve been to CJ’s a few times so far. It’s right near the dentist’s office, so I usually go there to get myself a treat and kill some time after my visits. I just wish it could be a little closer to where I live so I could go more often.

It’s been seven years since my last CJs meal and the food hasn’t changed. It’s still the best BBQ hands down. There is plenty of seating with some outside. The staff is still smiling. I loved seeing their growth. Keep going. ❤

Mixed bag, Got the CJ’s burger with the bbq beans side. Burger had good taste and ingredients, but it was way smaller than expected, considering the price. The side of the bbq beans tasted like it was canned and was tiny. Staff was friendly, and the service was prompt.

Food was beyond amazing and portions were great for the price especially in this economy, got a 3 meat combination and a rack of beef ribs, ribs were a little bit tough but the woman working at the front of house came out and not only substituted it but came out personally and talked to us walking us through the process in making them. Great food and even better service 10/10 will be returning

UPDATE: Since my last review they have brought back indoor seating, although the outdoor picnic tables are still available. I also noticed that they have not raised prices as much as their competitors making this even better value for the money. Of course the quality remains excellent as always.
OLD REVIEW BELOW:
I’ve been coming here for years and the food is consistently excellent. The BBQ has that “bark” that you only get from long hours in the smoker but is tender and succulent at the same time.
They also make good sandwiches (try the Philly cheese steak) and burgers (the BBQ burger w/avocado is my favorite). And they have a surprisingly good selection of fish dishes too including a seafood gumbo that is excellent.
Outdoor dining at picnic tables or take-away are your only options. They closed their indoor dining room during the pandemic and remodeled to expand the kitchen instead.
