A sparkling gem in downtown Wood River, IL. The bright exterior of C & B Boiled Bagels accented by tasteful neon welcomes customers to this little bagel shop.

My Bagel and Lox Schmear (with extra Lox) was mouth watering delicious. A crispy, crunchy, chewy Sea Salt Bagel with a generous cream cheese lox blend gave my day a fantastic start. If you are a salmon lover-like me-I recommend adding the extra lox. Though it would be a winner either way.

With a wide variety of boiled bagels (have them toast yours if you want), schmears, and sandwiches, it would be hard not to find something that entices you.

The service is friendly and efficient. The interior is spotlessly clean.

Beverages include coffee and they have soft drinks in a cooler. There are also some grab and go items in another cooler.

Do your taste buds and appetite a favor by picking up some goodness from C & B Boiled Bagels at 62 E. Ferguson Avenue in historic downtown Wood River, Illinois!

There’s a little bit of New York, right here on Ferguson Avenue in Wood River. Theses boiled bagels will have you thinking you’re in the Bronx or Brooklyn in NYC. They truly have that Jewish delicatessen flavor and chew. Making them the absolute best bagels in the Riverbend area.

I stopped in to take advantage of their special during, Epic Sandwich Week in the Riverbend Area. The special was a Cuban Sandwich with; ham, Swiss cheese, a Dill Pickle Schmear and a dab of mustard. You were allowed to choose your own bagel and I went with, Everything. I’m sure any one of their bagels would have been good, but I liked the extra kick the Everything bagel added to the sandwich. In addition to my sandwich, I bought a Plain and Cheddar Jalapeño bagel to enjoy at home the next day.

They also offer a variety of Breakfast Sandwiches and other Lunch Sandwiches, as well. It is strictly a grab and go shop, just like most bagel shops in NYC. So keep that in mind when stopping and remember there is no inside seating.

The staff was extremely friendly and they prepared my order quickly. There’s a cooler for cream cheeses and beverages and a rack of variety other retail items. I was impressed with the bright white interior and how super clean the shop was.

C and B Boiled Bagels is a great addition to Ferguson Avenue in Wood River and to the entire Riverbend area. Go check them out.

My visit was amazing. A small line with a short wait on a Friday morning. The smell of the fresh bagels struck k me first, then the many baskets of beautiful breads. Many options as well as many cream cheeses. One of the best bagels I have ever tasted. Plain or with cheese, these bagels are the bomb.

Sea salt breakfast bagel was incredibly tasty and the service was really fast. The lemon blueberry cream cheese sounded yummy too even tho I didn’t try it. There’s no seating so it’s grab and go, but we sat at the coffee shop next door so it’s a good one to pair up on if you aren’t wanting to go.

Oh. My…. yesterday was our second Saturday in a row to go here! Definitely worth the 30-minute drive to Wood River for some authentic, chewy-on-the-inside, crispy-on-the-outside bagels!

It’s a wholesale bakery, and they don’t have indoor seating, and it is still worth the drive! Last Saturday, there was a couple sitting on the tailgate of their pickup truck in 90° temperatures in front of the shop, eating bagels. That should tell you something!

My husband drove up there this morning, thinking they opened at 6 (always check to see if Saturday hours are different – LOL!) and waited in the car until they opened at 7!

Really. They’re that good! Yes, in Wood River. If you’re a bagel fan, I encourage you to go check it out!

The bagels and schmears are amazing. It was my first visit and the woman at the counter was patient and helpful. Thank you for that. I can’t wait to try one of their sandwiches. I saw someone make a crack about how Panera is cheaper, or whatever. So is Wal Mart, I can get a dozen bagels for probably like $2, but do you want quality or quantity? I’d rather pay the extra and get something that is actually good, while also supporting a local business that’s actually trying to improve Wood River. Keep doing what you’re doing C and B, and folks will keep coming back.

Don’t sleep on these bagels. Best breakfast sando I’ve had in ages. Stellar coffee and the schmear selection is killer.

These bagels remind us of bagels we used to get in New York twenty years ago. Perfectly sized, chewy and with the correct flavor and density. Bagels are not supposed to be big puffy bread rolls and these are simply amazing-and in Wood River, IL? Staff is also friendly and nice. Worth the trip!

I love C and B. I live in St. Louis, and these are better than any of the bagel shops we have over here! I especially like the veggie sandwich with pickled onion and cucumber. But the standard bagel and variety of schmears are also great (try the scallion).
