This place is absolutely wonderful. First off, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The vibe on the inside of the restaurant reminded me of the Sonoma county area or more remote parts of the Napa Valley in California. Just the right amount of rustic and welcoming and polished.

The oysters were exceptionally fresh and presented well. I also had the Crudo as well as the shrimp, both dishes were delicious. They have a very small selection of wine on offer, but the wines that are selected are full of character and remarkably different from each other.

This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in Rhode Island and I look forward to visiting often in the future.

0ctober 2022: Bywater is a restaurant located in a former garage. Garage doors were turned into large windows, with a cozy but elegant dining area. There are several outdoor tables with wooden benches. Heaters provide warmth on cool fall days. We were there in mid October, and eating outdoors was quite comfortable.
I had crab baked in squash as an appetizer, and squid pasta. Both dishes were interesting, well prepared, and flavorful. Even though the presentation was not particularly elegant, the flavors were excellent.
The service was very friendly and attentive.

Casual elegance that is so freaking inviting and low key that I had a hard time understanding why more restaurants aren’t this way. The reason is because everything in life just takes time to get there. And Bywater is there, and I’m sure it took time. Kind of Sonoma, kind of New Orleans, kinda Greenwich village, kinda French, kinda beachy, kinda country, kinda the exact place you wish was within walking distance of where you live but almost never is. The owner was kind enough to spend time with us and give us the inside scoop on so many things. Sunset here is remarkable. The food is playful and unpretentious and perfect. Loved it all, and we shall dine again!

One of my favorite places in Warren.
I love their exotic ambiance, cozy patio with flowers and herbs.
Theses days, they started open in the morning and serve nice bread, coffee and sandwiches.
I like to visit here after my morning working out and have a relaxing time with my friends or by myself.
Only one thing I want to ask the manager was when they would start to provide morning sandwich again.
As for two weeks, they don’t serve them…
and sparkling lemonade either…

Personnel:
Hostess Jules absolutely amazing
I just flew in from San Diego and found this spot. She was able to squeeze me in at the bar and even recommended a few items which were amazing.

Jeff bartender took my drink orders and food orders. He was super busy but attentive and got the orders in quickly. And attended to my drink orders instantly.

Other customers to left and right of me started conversations with me. Customers that come seem very friendly and welcoming like the staff.

Location:
Small location
Great atmosphere. Not too loud. I would say it’s good for couples or groups of 4. I would say always book a reservation but especially with a group 4-8 hit definitely need reservations.

Drinks:
To drink I had 2 different white wines
Forgot to write these down. But both very good.

The mixed drinks I saw Jeff make looked amazing and reactions from other customers looked very pleased with what they got. Definitely will try when I am back.

Food:
Ordered the oysters and clams
Very fresh plump. Clean and tasty.

Ordered the mushrooms and onions
Rich soup many layers of flavor. Kept saying wow every scoop. Must get!!

Squid Cacio e Pepe
Amazing thinly sliced squid mixed in with the pasta. Amazing umami of flavor. For me i would say to share a half order is good. Definitely need to add other dishes to try.
Everything here has been an absolute hit. I don’t think you can order anything bad. ( definitely want to try the lamb Carpaccio and the steamed little necks next time.)

“Crudo” amazing each plate has its unique taste. It’s a plater of flavors . Very fresh local fish.
Fluke
Tilefish
Scallop
Mackerel

To finish:
Desert was amazing with like a sponge like cake topped with nuts. Not overly sweet but packed with flavors

My first time in RI and this place has set the bar really high.

I will definitely be back here again

A new favorite in Rhode Island- Bywater is an innovative, unpretentious, upscale dining experience. We scored same day 7:15pm reservations via Resy for a last minute birthday celebration for four.

We tried basically everything on their seasonal, constantly changing menu, including:
– Four Crudos
– Cheese & Olives
– Lamb Tartare
– Black Bass Collars (like fish chicken wings)
– Daikon Radish Salad
– Squid Cacio e Pepe
– Steamed Little Necks
– Whole Fluke

Portions range from small to enormous- with plenty of options for fish lovers. The ingredients were so fresh and the service was fantastic! We will definitely be coming back to try the outdoor dining in the summer!

Love this place. The service is good and the food is excellent. I love the pork dish with different cuts of meat. That goes really well with their house fries. I heard they have a dollar oysters on Monday and reservation is probably necessary for that.

Small place with a raw bar and neat outside seating. Small but interesting menu, great servers/service, and French versions of 60s hits playing inside the restaurant. Quirky place – definitely worth trying!

It has a nice setup for outdoor dining. There are heaters next to the tables and they also have blankets. I had oysters, for my entree littlenecks in white wine and garlic. They only have one oyster variety a day, mine were from New Brunswick, they weren’t local. They were good oysters but when I eat at a place like this I really want local oysters. The littlenecks were very good.

Bywater has an amazing atmosphere. The lighting is absolutely perfect for a romantic date. The only downside was how close we were to other couples. I could have reached over and touched the couple next to me. We went for Valentines- going out for the first time alone together in over a year. It was a big event. The menu was a bit confusing. I didn’t really understand that the portions are pretty small, and you’re kind of expected to share. We ordered oysters, steak, a cassoulet, and bread. It was perfect. I expected the entrees to be a bit more typical with sides. But the cassoulet was just a cassoulet and the steak only came with broccoli. Which is how it was described. It was my fault for presuming. We ordered the steak medium but it was quite rare. It was so delicious despite that. The oysters were superb. The bread out of this world. For dessert we ordered the crème brûlée and cake. Both were very reminiscent of Japanese deserts as they were not sweet at all. My husband loved them- I was a bit dissapointed having quite the sweet tooth. The staff were so kind. We really want to return soon.
