Had a wonderful experience at Byrd’s Hot Chicken in Skokie when i came in the morning. From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful. The lady took my order patiently and made sure everything was correct she was so polite The service was fast, and I didn’t have to wait long for my food.
The food was absolutely amazing! The chicken was fresh, crispy, and full of flavor. The spice level was perfect, and you can really tell that they care about quality and taste. The sides were also delicious and well-prepared.
The restaurant was clean, organized, and had a nice atmosphere. It made my dining experience even better. The staff was always smiling the lady was checking if everything was okay, which I really appreciated.
Overall, Byrd’s Hot Chicken in Skokie truly deserves praise for their great food and excellent customer service. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves tasty food and good service. I will definitely be coming back again!

We ordered the sandwich combo with the coleslaw on the side as well as the mac & cheese BYRD‘s bowl it was very yummy. Very tasty and well worth it. We spent about $32 but she also gave us complementary chicken wings to just taste which were really good as well and really crispy a little pricey in this economy. I guess it’s just the times that were in but overall the food was still worth it. The customer service was phenomenal. I really appreciate the care and the thoughtfulness to our food so Yummy.

Chicken was so hot and fresh I had to wait about 10 mins before I could get at it. And when I did it was so juicy, tender and perfectly seasoned. Great food at a great price! Looking forward to my next visit.

The bathroom was just filthy. There was no clean toilet paper, the one in the photo was wet, maybe with pee, maybe water, who knows. There were no paper towels, nothing but a gallon jug. There was pee everywhere, inside the trashcan there was toilet paper with poop smudged on it. You can tell the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in days, maybe weeks. When addressed, it was brushed off and ignored. The man told me they cleaned it today which was very clearly a lie, as the mirror had so much dust built up on it and I can barely see my own reflection.
As a Zabiha halal restaurant, you would expect to have a sanitary environment to eat in. After seeing the neglected bathroom, it makes us question how clean and sanitary their cooking process, and equipment really is. I have been coming here since this place opened up, but today was my final time coming as the sanitation of this place has clearly gone downhill.
As Muslims, it really makes us question the legitimacy of the sanitation and cleanliness of this place. This is my first time leaving a review on any place. It’s disappointing it has to be a restaurant I once really enjoyed eating at.

I want to be clear that my review reflects exactly what I personally experienced at the time of my visit. Describing what I saw is not an exaggeration; it was concerning enough that I felt compelled to say something, both to staff and later in a review.
And to clarify, the issue was addressed on the spot in person, and it was brushed off, and there were no actions taken. All I got in return was assurance that the bathroom had been cleaned that day, which did not align with its condition. That is why I mentioned it. Taking photos and leaving a review was not “theatrics,” but a way to document and communicate a genuine concern after feeling dismissed, and I have video proof of me addressing the concern to the employees, but again, my concern was brushed off in defense by the employees in person, and the owner online, hence the reason I left a review, and will not be returning.
As a customer who has supported this business since it first opened, my disappointment comes from seeing a noticeable decline. Cleanliness, especially in a halal establishment, matters deeply to many of us, and it is reasonable for a customer to question overall sanitation when basic facilities are in such poor condition.
This was written out of concern rather than malice. The feedback is direct and honest, and it is shared with the expectation that it will be received maturely and constructively, especially given the emphasis that conversations here can be handled “like adults.”

I’ve noticed that the fries portion is consistently very small despite being charged about $7 for a large order. This quantity is not acceptable for the price. I order regularly but everytime its the same thing but this time its not even the same they are giving.

We tried Byrd’s Hot Chicken in Skokie and it was absolutely worth it! We ordered the Byrd Bomb (crispy tenders with cheese, slaw, 24 karat sauce, pickles on bread and hot toast) and it was packed with flavor. The hot chicken sandwich was juicy and had the perfect kick, while the crispy Byrd wrap was a great twist with amazing crunch. We also got a full order of wings, and they were cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside and tender inside.
The drinks selection is solid (Pepsi products) and paired perfectly with the heat. Service was great, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the place had plenty of space with lots of parking available.
If you’re looking for delicious hot halal chicken with great portions and excellent service, this is the spot. Definitely coming back! Also they are on uber eats and open super late

Absolute gluttony. We got delivery from Byrd’s and were completely satisfied. The Byrd Bombs were huge and filled to the brim with crispy chicken, fries, a piece of toast, and pickles and drenched in cheesy sauce. Eating this will leave you full for days, but it’s definitely worth it if you’re feeling especially ravenous!

Service: one star for not having menu items shown at that location online, and employees that give no explanation. A chicken place with no 8, 12 or 16 piece wings?! Okay, I ordered the “five full wings (wings only)”. Would you wait five minutes per wing? I did, with no warning or explanation that it would take nearly 25 minutes for my small order. One star is generous. Their service is not.
Food: I won’t go back, but I’ll give the wings three stars. But the bottom line is, try a different location, or just go to a different restaurant. Wings are everywhere, and I’ll be going elsewhere.

Did takeout and got a hot chicken sandwich with potato salad and a Byrd bomb. Honestly the flavors were good but the chicken was smaller than what I expected. Overall would drop the potato salad and go for Mac and cheese next time and go a level higher (not sure if it is actually hot or if my spice tolerance is good). The Byrd bomb was good but it is evidently mean to be eaten hot. Overall would go again

I just ordered from this place online on Uber eats and I asked for hot wings spicy and also buffalo and I got all 20 pieces barbecue and sweet. I don’t get how you mess up 20 wings and get them all the wrong. It makes no sense and the guy on the phone has the audacity to say the person they train did it wrong if he’s in training why is he doing it wrong? Why is my food having to suffer? It makes no sense how you didn’t make sure that your coworker wasn’t doing the order correct. It’s all doused in barbecue sauce and it’s just sweet and I just don’t like it at all. It’s not what I asked for and it’s just basic wings. Smothered in bbq 4/10.
Honestly, find a better place. This is not it.
