Drive through Chester a good bit on the way to Charlotte and have always wanted to stop. Good location on the main drag, but limited weekend-only hours (normal for bbq places). Great food, really reasonable prices, and a big menu. I got the smoked chicken and it was awesome, but everything else from wings to hash bowls we got were all great. Fried okra was perfect (please don’t tell me it came out of a bag). Different than most other small town spots – they have their own signature desserts: Buttermilk pie and a couple cheesecakes. Incredible and a good ending to a good meal. Definitely stop by. They’ve got a bar area too, so even if you’re just wanting a few beers.

I recently used Buttermilk’s catering for my wedding, and I truly couldn’t be happier! From the very beginning Jane, Rob, and Kelley were amazing to work with, meeting with us several times and exchanging countless emails to make sure every detail was perfect.
They came highly recommended by our venue, and it’s easy to see why. The food was absolutely delicious, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about it! The team working the wedding was exceptional. Everything was beautifully displayed and they even took out our cake and set it up for us without us even asking. It was just one of the many thoughtful touches that showed how much they care.
I’m so grateful for the entire Buttermilk staff and would recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer who goes above and beyond.

We ordered Valentine’s Day specials to go. The ribeye special with shrimp was delicious, one of the best steaks I have had in a while. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned.

I spend 20 dollars every time I go out to eat, and I can’t remember the last time leaving a place not feeling ripped off. I spent less than 20 here, and the food was great and very fair size portion.

Brisket tasted like pot roast imo, not like what I’ve had from other places, no smokey taste or nothing, maybe they prepared it differently than I expected or they are just not using quality meat. Imma try Sweet Caroline’s next time, I haven’t tried anything else from there which is why I didnt give 1 star, they are probably better with other options.

First time trying their brisket and I’m so glad I did!!! It was so tender!!! Mac and cheese was creamy and fried okra did not disappoint. Go ahead and add on a big ole brownie for a dollar bc it’s scrumptious. Large portions. Friendly staff. Will definitely be back!!! (I ate some of the brisket before I took this picture)

Excellent experience, our compliments to the chef. If I had to describe this place in one word it would be WOW! We just left and I can’t wait to go back… Our appetizer was cheese curds and lemon pepper grilled wings which were both excellent. My husband ordered the brisket plate and I had the 10 oz steak burger,. Our sides were cabbage, slaw, onion rings and sweet potato fries– everything was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Service was excellent, our server was Maddie. We had no wait to be seated at a table and our food arrived promptly. It was super duper tasty! We will be back soon!

One of my clients told me about this place, so I decided to take the drive. I was not disappointed. The bartender was courteous and attentive. The food was great. The brisket was VERY good. I’m skeptical about order Mac n cheese, however theirs was much closer to a southern homemade casserole then a lot of other restaurants. The loaded baked potato was also good. I will be back.

When Buttermilks opened, they were great. However, the last two times we have been there the food was horrible. Thought I would take a chance today ans get some take out. The two sandwiches I ordered were completely wrong and one sandwich did not have fries. Now, I realize that we are supposed to check our food first, but when you have to wait on someone to help you, you get in a bit of a hurry. I did not check my food, but I would think that at least it would be halfway correct. I ordered online, so short of the fact that someone could not read, my order was completely wrong. Not to mention the fact that the chicken wasn’t even fit to eat. It was dried out and I don’t think they changed there grease in quite a while. I won’t be back.

I ordered 12 wings $13.95. 6 Hot 6 with signature sauce. I like my wings crispy on the outside and these were not. The Hot had an alright flavor but I didn’t like the signature sauce at all. The ranch dipping sauce was good. I’ve heard they have really good pork chops, so I will go back and give them a try.
