**Please note: Kitchen closes at 10pm** Butterjoint is a comfy bar and restaurant located in North Oakland. Our welcoming and eclectic atmosphere is appropriate for almost any occasion – whether it be meeting a friend for a drink, celebrating an important event, or relaxing after work. Our dinner menu is a mixture of familiar Pittsburgh foods (think pierogies, hamburgers, French fries) and French bistro classics (beef tartare, raclette, mussels), and seasonal specials that come and go throughout the year. Buns are hand rolled and baked fresh in the mornings at our coffee shop next door, Sidecar.

Hip spot for cocktails, beer, wine & bar bites, plus New American fare from sister bistro Legume.

Really cute vibes and a nice place for a meal with solid drinks and sandwiches!

Butterjoint had a casual but really nice atmosphere, with some really cute decorations. Their house cocktails were all pretty unique and interesting, my favorite was the sage and grapefruit one, nice strong flavors.

Fancy chicken sandwich was fantastic, chicken fried perfectly with kimchi and sauce with a little kick, definitely recommend. The tallow fries are also worth it, very crispy with good flavor. Getting any of their sandwiches would be my recommendation honestly.

On the other hand, I think their pierogis are fine, pretty solid but a little over priced at $4 per Perogi for the shared plate. Don’t think it’s a must try, but the sandwiches and desserts are worth coming in for!

Stopped by for dinner before heading to the Phipps. I made a reservation before hand & I was glad I did as there was a steady stream of people coming in. We were sat at a small table by a pillar, truly the only disappointing part of the meal, would have liked a bigger table but for 2 it worked! Our server Keith was accommodating and provided excellent service! We started with the smoked bluefish and it was delish! I had the moules frites and my mother had the fancy burger. I cannot say enough about the french fries. Easily the best french fries that I have ever had! Mussels were large and the broth was so flavorful! The meal was enough but we decided for sticky toffee pudding to close out the meal. The pudding was perfectly spiced and I could have eaten the whole thing but I had to stop myself! Highly recommend stopping by for dinner!

We went to celebrate a birthday and were very impressed. The staff in the bar area was super friendly and accommodating. It was some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. The French onion soup was cheesy and delicious. The pierogies were phenomenal. The burger was well season and the sauce was tasty. The fries were the star of the show. They aren’t greasy at all, and were fried to perfection. I would say that the bar can get a bit loud and the tables are pretty close to each other, so ask for the dining room if you want a more intimate setting (but youd miss out on the happy hour drinks and apps).

Update : went back to try again and was dissapointed. Everything was kinda lacking quality and some touch. Burger buns were burnt. Fries were undercooked.

This is a beautiful local bistro that does a wonderful job creating European and Asian inspired dishes done well in Pittsburgh. The have delicious pickles, perogies, burgers, and breads alongside a fantastic bar. It’s the first time I’ve seen it, they have a drink called “mercy of the bartender” which lets you have whatever the bartender feels like making. I’ve done this 4 times already and each one is a creative and professional libation.

More than the food though, the staff is absolutely wonderful. I felt so welcome and, quite frankly, loved. I don’t know his name, but the man who is the host in the evenings treated me with so much respect and care that he’s the reason I plan to come back on a reoccurring basis. This is my new spot for cozy nights and delicious eats. In fact, I spent my 10 year anniversary here after coming before and deciding “this is it”.

Excellent service & excellent food. Visiting from out of town and made it a point to come here. Made from scratch kitchen is fantastic – we had sauerkraut balls, perogies & kielbasa. Amazing! I have already told others to stop in when they are in Pittsburgh.

A girlfriend and I stopped here before attending the author series featuring Elizabeth Gilbert a short walk to the Carnegie. Sat outside and enjoyed the lovely evening. The food was fantastic. She had moules frites and I tried the shredded goat. All delicious. Our server sweet adorable and efficient. A great night out in Oakland!!

Butterjoint is a restaurant that deserves my highest recommendations . I do not say this lightly but it may have been the best “thick” burger I’ve had in my entire life . The burger was extraordinarily juicy, yet still charred and crisp on the outside . The quality of meat was stupendous , and the bun was made in the bakery next door ‍ . The pierogies were certainly “Pittsburgh style”, but done exceptionally well . For dessert we had vinegar pie, which while sounding odd, was the best pie I’ve had in my life . It was a sweet tangy pie with a crystallized custard filling served with homemade ice cream .

All of the dishes were recommended by our waiter, Brennan, who was a kind young man . He welcomed us to the restaurant and embraced Pittsburgh’s culture with his recommendations ️‍ ️. I cannot put into words how much I love this restaurant. 6, maybe 7 out of 5 stars

Great spot in our neighborhood for outdoor bistro style dining.

Hearty Salad with Crab Cakes provides a light summertime meal.

So good I came back two nights in a row.

The 2nd night my husband ordered the French Onion soup and loved it.
