I got the railway fried rice and the rice was soggy with grease. It had been doused in soy sauce. The meat was unsalted and tasted very plain. I didn’t eat it. I have eaten in many delicious Asian food places and this restaurant I believe purposefully served me gross food. People who cook for a living don’t serve food like that.

A lovely dining area in a historic building sets the stage for a really nice experience at Busaba Thai Cafe. Friendly and prompt service makes you feel relaxed and appreciated as a customer. I had the iconic Pad Thai dish and it was delicious. Flavourful but not too spicy. And the “Thai Iced Tea” was great. Top quality Thai food in Nelson and a great dining experience!

Food is surprisingly good in a small town. The server is pleasant and greet us right away when we sat down. Pad Thai is not easy to make it good. It’s easy to get too oily or too sticky but this restaurant is doing a good job!

Unfortunately, my experience here fell short of expectations. I ordered the spring rolls and a red curry (Tofu Panaeng), while my wife had the Tom Kha soup and my daughter the Tofu Pad Khai. All of the dishes were, at best, average in flavour and presentation.
The service was also disappointing—distant and lacking the warm, welcoming atmosphere I’ve come to appreciate in other Thai restaurants. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend nor come back.

Hit the spot! Looking for some Thai food when visiting Nelson? Compares to some of the best I’ve had coming from Vancouver. Bang on, thumbs up, chef’s kiss *we are guilty of diggin’ in before snapping photos* Papaya salad, spring rolls, crab fried rice, and dessert!

We locals here in Nelson. This quality of Thai food has definitely gone downhill!! We order here usually one or twice a year, this time it was worse again! Pretty good flavour but the red curry was so watery like soup?! The drunken noodle was ok? The portion size has gotten so small!
So sad hopefully it gets better or better competition?

Love the atmosphere and ambience of this restaurant. We got here during lunch hours and so we ordered their lunch specials. Spent about $18/entree for a lunch special, which i think is a bit high but food is good and portions are okay, although I wish curry portions were a lot more than a tiny bowl because it was delicious! We’ll definitely come back if we happen to be in Nelson BC. area next time.

I ordered chicken pad Thai and the portion was half of what I expected with twice as much sauce as was necessary. It was so saturated in sauce that it took away from the flavor of everything else. Only a few pieces of chicken. Not the value I was hoping for based on what I paid. I remember eating here a few years ago and it was much better with a larger portion.

Delicious and authentic! I was surprised to see dishes here that a lot of Thai restaurants don’t routinely have on their menus eg. boat noodles. We tried the panang curry, kuay tiew tom yum, and chicken wings and everything was fantastic.

I had the drunken noodle stir fry with prawns and it was really flavourful. The spring rolls were good but kinda small for $9. Overall the food is delicious, cooked hot to order and crave-able.
