Sujal was especially kind, patient, and friendly. As someone with a disability, I truly appreciated the care and understanding he showed. His patience and attentiveness made the whole experience even more meaningful.
Highly recommend.
The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, great for casual meals with friends. Service is usually quick even when it’s busy. It’s not over-the-top fancy, but very reliable, which is why I keep returning.
The location is super convenient, just a short walk from Bond Street Station. Perfect if you want to grab a meal before or after wandering around Oxford Street.
The atmosphere inside is really interesting. They have these large communal tables, which gives the place a lively and slightly social vibe. With the warm lighting and Thai-style decor, it actually feels quite different from the typical London restaurant.
We ordered a few dishes to share. The calamari and prawn starters were crispy and easy to snack on. But the highlight for me was the tamarind duck breast. It’s cooked a bit like a steak – the outside nicely seared while the inside stays really tender. The sweet and tangy tamarind sauce works surprisingly well with the duck.
The tom yum soup was also great. It had prawns and noodles in it, so it was quite filling and very comforting – sour, spicy and really appetising.
For dessert we had the mango sticky rice, which looked beautiful and tasted just as good. The portion of mango was generous and the coconut sticky rice paired perfectly with it.
Service was friendly too. The manager (from Nepal) was very warm and welcoming, which made the experience even nicer.
Overall, a fun and relaxed place for Thai food in central London. Definitely a good option if you’re around Selfridges and looking for something casual but tasty.
Weekday Express Lunch: £12 for a main, +£2 for a drink, +£3 for a starter. Hard to beat in central London!
Food highlights:
• Pandan Chicken: tender, wrapped in pandan leaves, served with a sesame-flavored sauce.
• Chargrilled Sirloin Steak: surprisingly good with Thai-style fried egg noodles.
• Pandan Pancake: rich, fluffy, with banana, nuts, and ice cream—super satisfying.
• Guava Collins: refreshing, not too sweet.
A perfect spot for cozy vibes and tasty Thai food in the heart of London!
From a Thai taste perspective, I do think it tastes good, but it doesn’t really come across as an authentic Pad Thai. It feels more like a general Asian dish with some Pad Thai elements rather than a fully traditional one, if you know what I mean. I also felt like they added a bit too much MSG.
That said, I totally get why it tastes this way, especially since the owner is actually from Hong Kong and not Thailand.
Overall, I still enjoyed it 😀
I visited Busaba in St Christopher’s Place with two friends for a 6pm dinner, and we left very pleased with the overall experience. It strikes a great balance between relaxed dining and well executed food, making it an easy choice for a midweek meal.
We started with the Chicken Satay and Matchstick Chicken, both of which were simple but effective. The flavours were clean and well balanced, and they set us up nicely for the mains without feeling too heavy.
For my main, I ordered the Tamarind Duck Breast, which was a generous portion and cooked very well. The duck was tender and full of flavour, and the tamarind glaze worked beautifully. The rice is served separately in a smaller portion, which felt about right given the size of the main. One of my friends went for the Massaman Lamb Shank, which he enjoyed overall, though he did find the flavours slightly overpowering and was unable to finish it.
For dessert, I originally had my eye on the Busabocker Glory, but unfortunately it was sold out. I opted instead for the Chocolate Fondant, while my friends chose the Banana and Peanut Sticky Toffee Pudding. All of the desserts were excellent, with well judged sweetness and savoury elements. The coconut ice cream paired particularly well with the chocolate fondant.
We benefited from a discount, which made the value for money very good, coming in at under £30 per person for three courses. At full price, I would perhaps expect a little more originality, as some dishes felt slightly generic compared to other Thai restaurants I have visited, but the quality was still solid.
Service was a real highlight. Every member of staff who passed our table was attentive, friendly, and welcoming, without ever feeling intrusive. The layout of the restaurant with large, grid-like tables means that you could be dining opposite another group, giving the place a very relaxed feel, and means that servers are not fighting over certain areas.
Overall, we were very happy with the experience. Busaba is a great option for a quick, easy, and enjoyable dinner, and I would happily return in the future.
I really like this restaurant’s decoration ^^
I just finished shopping at Selfridge, and Busaba is literally just behind selfridge.
I always order pai Thai in every Thai restaurant, but I still quite like Busaba’s pai Thai. The noodles are cooked just right — soft but not soggy. Every spoonful is bursting with authentic Thai flavor.
They also offer fresh smoothies, I quite like Guava feel like I am super healthy.
