My story I was raised learning about the restaurant business since I was 10 years old! My father opened his first Taco Shop in 1974 in San Diego! He taught me all that I know. I came up with my new idea in opening my own brand: Burros & Fries fresh Mexican grill! I opened my first restaurant in 2009 in Tijuana, Mexico. Now we have crossed the border opening new locations across San Diego. It has been a great experience growing my business thanks to all my wonderful customers! Hope you enjoy all that my father has taught me. Thank You.

Over time, they’ve gotten faster, but the quality remains top-notch. The customer service is consistently friendly and welcoming. My husband and I usually go through the drive-thru, and while we had one minor mix-up with an order, they handled it quickly and kindly, which we really appreciate.
One of the things I love most is that they let you choose your meat for many dishes. For example, my husband’s favorite is the carne asada fries, which come with delicious guacamole and a variety of meat options. He also loves the three flautas with beef, and those are fantastic too. And sometimes, I’m tempted to try the chicken version of the carne asada fries, which is rare and awesome.
I personally always go for the five rolled chicken tacos, which are loaded with delicious toppings, like guacamole and fresh salsa. You can choose between green or red salsa, and they’re always delicious, though they can be a bit spicy, so definitely test them out first!
I’ve also tried the potato tacos with rice and beans, and they’re beautifully made and incredibly tasty. I always crave those potato tacos!
My husband has also tried the birria, and that’s delicious too. We can’t wait to explore more of their menu.
The only thing I wasn’t as keen on was the chilaquiles, as they didn’t include cheese, and I’m used to having cheese on them. But overall, the experience is fantastic!
All in all, it’s always a pleasure to eat here. We go about once a week, and that speaks volumes about how much we enjoy it. Highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for authentic, delicious Mexican food!
The birria quesadilla was satisfying, the only reason I removed a star was because there was a lot of fatty meat and it’s just not my preference.
The horchata was decent as well.
That being said, it was rather bizarre, having to explain the Burros & Fries Menu to an employee, considering that it was our first time in. We’d just looked online to figure out what we wanted beforehand, but this meant we had a better grasp of the menu than the cashier himself?
Slightly odd service aside, the food was absolutely amazing. I’d ordered the Birria (x3) Tacos, BF got the Tijuana Burro, both with rice & beans. The beans are probably the best refried beans I’ve ever had. Some reviews say the food is too salty? PFF!!! Nah. Not soupy, not bland, not cement…But rather full, flavorful, and chunky refried beans, with a solid layer of cheese. The beans are always quite telling of whether or not the food will be good, and it very much was, just like the beans. My BF did “The Happy Dance” when eating his burrito, and made a lot of questionable noises during the chewing process. The only thing that’ll survive overnight is about 1/3 of that Tijuana Burro, simply because it was so BIG. Hefty burrito, for sure. They didn’t skimp on the taco meat either <3
Great spot–Will be back for the flavor!
The fact that they’re empty on a weekend with literally only a single couple in the lobby is a testament to the fact a shiny building and menu can’t make up for your awful service. Replace them all.
GO TO TORCHY TACOS. literally across the street. But the atmosphere is lively, the staff are kind and nice, I’d spend money here because it’s a functional restaurant unlike this place.
