We had anchovies on toast with lots of butter (can’t go wrong), the yellow tail ceviche (beautiful, delicate), we shared the tagliolini with mullet roe for our primi (rich but light, fresh and morish) – oh, and every dish we chose to share came split onto two plates, a nice touch! –
We finished with our secondi – the fried seafood platter and the octopus, both the best examples of each we’ve tried (and we eat a lot of seafood around the Mediterranean).
It’s an odd addition in a review, but it was noticeable that attention had been paid to the sound in the space. Lots of sound dampening “furniture” and just panels – the result is that, what would probably be a loud and reverberous space otherwise, was pleasant, intimate and we could hear each other fine without raising our voice. Just another touch that made this restaurant special.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a quality fish restaurant in Florence. You’ll love it!
After having spent a few nights in Florence we had had enough of the regular fare one might find in the more central touristy areas. I mean there is just so much Bistecca alla Florentine and Pappardelle Ragu one can have. So we were ready for a change.
We highly recommend the pastas and the fried squid starter. The creamed cod on the other hand while pretty good was not as good when compared to the other dishes.
Service was great and our waitress spoke perfect English and was very helpful in helping us choose our dishes.
We will definitely be back to have another meal here should we find ourselves in Florence again. As my partner is pregnant, we would definitely want to try some of the raw selection and dishes that feature raw food the next time around.
I could not leave without trying their version of tiramisu, with a notch of almonds flavor in the base crust (not the usual coffee soaked finger cookies), a super gentle cream and a couple leaves of bitter chocolate on top – a delicious desert. All that was accompanied by a glass of Fiano wine.
Great value for your money due to exquisite taste.
Highly recommend!
The waitress spoke to me and my family in one manner but addressed my husband with clear disdain and open racism. She raised her voice at him and treated him with a level of disrespect that was both humiliating and unacceptable. When we requested to be served by another waiter, she continued to return to our table, refusing to step away, as though determined to assert her hostility.
When we asked for the bill, desperate to leave, she deliberately stalled—clearing the entire table while making us wait for over 10 minutes. We ultimately had to approach the reception desk ourselves to finally pay and leave.
It became painfully clear that this behavior was not an isolated incident but rather tolerated, if not encouraged, by the management. Our request for a different waiter was simply ignored.
If you are not Italian, especially if you are part of a mixed-race family, I strongly urge you to avoid this place. The experience left us deeply hurt and with our evening ruined. This was, without a doubt, the worst dining experience we have ever had.
