This place is such a gem! The atmosphere is so inviting and the food is to die for! While expensive, it was honestly worth every penny because the flavors were out of this world! I got the shrimp and grits which were INCREDIBLE and so unique and my husband got the ribeye which he loved! We also shared the gouda mac and cheese, Brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes which are cooked in beef tallow. While all the sides were amazing, the Brussel sprouts blew us away! I do wish they gave you more than 5 fingerling potatoes, but they melt in your mouth! The main negative was I felt like it was overstaffed so we kept having people ask if we were done or try to clear our table when there was still food on our plate and it felt like our table was visited a little too often by multiple staff members. You will definitely not feel like you are being neglected by the staff lol! Our waiter Joel was amazing and SO friendly! We finished the night off with the Dubai chocolate cake which was giant, moist and so yummy! Enough to feed two people. Overall it was an amazing experience and we will for sure be back soon!

Absolutely incredible dining experience! Every dish was beyond impressive. The beef Wellington was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The surf and turf was equally amazing, with both components cooked flawlessly and packed with flavor.
The espresso martini was the bomb and the perfect complement to the meal. The Gouda mac & cheese was phenomenal—rich, creamy, and unforgettable.
On top of the outstanding food, the service was spectacular. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the entire experience even more enjoyable. I 100% recommend this place and cannot wait to come back!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Burnt four times now. We’ve celebrated my husband’s birthday there, my best friend got engaged there, and we held our Salon Christmas dinner there. As well as an evening at the bar with dinner with my son. I can’t say enough good things about this establishment! The drinks are the best I’ve had, and the food is absolutely amazing! The beef wellington being my favorite. I tried to recreate the wellington on Christmas Eve, and realized there’s no point. I contacted Burnt the next day and requested a reservation for Christmas Eve 2026 because I never want to cook again. Lol. I want to be at my favorite local establishment with my family next Christmas! The staff treat you like royalty, and I can’t wait for my first visit of the new year soon! Thank you for opening this great upscale fine dining in our small town!

I had the pork chop at Burnt by JH, and it was nothing short of fantastic—one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The pork chop was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, with a sauce that elevated the entire dish. The sweet potatoes that came with it were excellent and complemented the pork beautifully.
What really stood out was the hospitality. The owner personally stopped by my table and offered extra sauce for my pork chop, even giving me some to take home. That level of care and attention made the experience feel personal and genuine.
Burnt by JH delivers a high-end, five-star dining experience with a local touch. I will absolutely be returning for that pork chop. Very happy to have found this place.

We were so happy with my birthday dinner here! The food was delicious, our server was so kind and not too pushy- she knew just how much to be around while still letting our family have plenty of conversation, while making sure we were well accommodated. I love that our small towns have an amazing fine dining experience like this. It’s a place that you can go in smart casual and have just a great Tuesday dinner, or dress up and celebrate a special occasion. At the end of our dinner, they took our picture and gave us this keepsake! it’s these small little touches through out the dining experience that make this place so very special!

My husband and I got a rare chance to enjoy a date night between our jobs and life so I sent him 3 choices to go to for dinner and I’m so glad he chose Burnt!!! Despite Downtown Van Alstyne doing a *beautification* and renovations it was pleasantly simple to park and walk over to Burnt. Once you step inside you feel the ambience of an elevated dining experience within a quaint downtown. It’s warm and inviting with an industrial and cozier vibe.
You’re welcomed in a professional and kind manner and if you’ve made reservations they immediately sit you. There is a mixture of leather chesterfield booths and individual chairs to sit in that allow for comfort and a touch of aesthetics. Our waiter “Junior” was phenomenal, personable and gave us a great experience.
As you peruse the menu you realize you have the difficult choice to make on what to order because everything sounds so good! I ordered their new cocktail the espresso martini inspired by the trending “Dubai chocolate” and it was to die for. The perfect mixture of espresso, chocolate and pistachio that makes your tastebuds do a little flip with how good it is. Dessert in the form of a mixed drink! Highly recommend! My husband was happy they had a great selection of bourbons and whiskeys for him to choose from as well.
For an appetizer we chose the burnt end because they’re one of my favorite things. It was so tender and flavorful with the sauce and slaw used to make it. It was beautifully presented on top of a crustini. We were delighted to know we could share one of their 16 ounce steaks as an entree and that they’d happily split it to two plates for us! We ordered our steak medium with their “burnt” option which consisted of a dry rub and a special sauce. Our side choice was the Parmesan mashed potatoes which were fluffy, creamy and the perfect balance of Parmesan for your palette. The steak was hands down one of the best we’ve had. The *burnt* option was a great decision as it allowed the flavors to dance along your taste buds and welcome the distinct flavors and the tender steak to collide and create a taste I definitely want to experience again!!
They brought us a crème brûlée to top it off that displayed a perfectly hardened top layer that cracked effortlessly when tapped. The crème underneath was so beautifully done with just the right amount of sweetness to follow our entree.
If you’re on the fence about experiencing Burnt, I recommend doing so! You won’t be disappointed and will walk away with full bellies and a divine dining experience!

Burnt by JH was amazing! We had the burnt end appetizer, the ragu, and the pork chop, and everything was seriously top-notch. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, super juicy and full of flavor, with creamy parmesan mashed potatoes that were awesome. The gouda mac and cheese was next-level, rich and smoky in the best way.Our server was fantastic. He knew the menu inside out, and gave great recommendations that totally hit. Between the food, cocktails, and service, this place is an easy 5 stars. This is a great addition to a growing Van Alstyne!

Service here is excellent. As were the drinks and darn near everything else except the main protein. Sat at the bar, which could use higher stools even for me as a six foot tall guy, and had a full course with dessert and drinks. Everything was delicious, the crostini and white bean dip which we started with, the two old fashioneds and the creme brulee. The NY strip is an odd story. It came out on the well side of medium well at first, which they promptly recooked when brought to attention. On second pass the steak came out rare as requested but they swapped me for a ribeye. No harm I suppose and I was too hungry to care further but we know our short loin primal enough. All that said, they handled it well and the accompanying candied Brussels were great. Would return again.

A Small-Town Gem with Big Flavor and Heart!
We absolutely love this new addition to our small-town dining scene. The service is always excellent — friendly, attentive, and genuine. The drinks are incredible, and the menu is both diverse and delicious, offering something new to look forward to each visit.
One of the things that truly sets this place apart is James, the owner and chef. He takes pride in his craft and makes a point to visit each table personally to greet guests — such a thoughtful touch that makes every meal feel special and welcoming.
This restaurant has quickly become a weekly staple for us. We love the food, the atmosphere, and the chance to support our neighbors who are putting their heart and soul into creating something wonderful for our community. Highly recommend!

I made the 45 minute drive from Dallas for a friends birthday and it was absolutely exceptional. The ambiance and atmosphere are toned perfectly and the food was amazing. I eat out often but I hadn’t realized how long it had been since I had a top tier steak. The wait staff were essentially telepathic and the head chef even came by to chat and offer recommendations.
I’m rarely compelled to bother leaving reviews for anything aside from the truly terrible and the truly great. Burnt by J.H was clearly the later.
