Burnsie’s just took the top spot for my favorite fish fry in Milwaukee. I ordered the pan-fried walleye, and it was cooked to perfection—light, flaky, ideally sized, and “to die for.”
The highlight for me was the pancake-style potato cakes. They offer maple syrup or applesauce as sides, but do yourself a darn favor and get both; the savory mix is incredible. The Friday ambiance was spot on, and my server, Neesha, was wonderful and made me feel right at home. I’ll definitely be back!

My parents found this bar online and were very excited to visit as their last name (my maiden) is also Burns (all nicknamed Burnsie too). Tammy, the owner, waited on us and she was delightful. The food and bloodies were fantastic and you can really tell that care has been put into this bar. Tammy brought her husband Dave over after he got back from winning a Bloody Mary competition (woohoo!) and he was just as kind. Really an awesome experience, go support good hardworking folks who pour themselves into what they do.

We went to Burnsie’s on Feb 4th 2026 approx 5pm (first time there) and it was a meat raffle night and the place was packed. When we were approached and welcomed by the owner(Dave) bent over back words to make us feel welcome and find us a place sit so we could eat our meal sitting down. Burgers were great, onion rings were very good, cheese curds very good and so were the fires and beers were nice and cold. We could not have felt more welcome for our first time there. Dave made us feel like his group of regulars. We will definitely be back. Thanks Dave for making us feel welcome. Mark/ Roxanne – West Allis WI

First time in last Friday and we’ll be back! Had a beer while we waited a short time for seats to open up at the bar. Best reuben rolls ever and the fish fry was perfect. Onion rings were amazing as well. So glad we checked this place out!

It’s the problem you don’t know you wanted! This bar KICKS! Fish fry… buckle up! Service… deal with Neshea or bust! She’s a living legend! Drinks: hold up…. Wait a minute. Hope you like to party! Let it simmer…. If youre brave take a picture with the owner and support the place with a hat or T. Walleye was crazy good! Clean plate club!

My husband and I tried Burnsie’s tonight and we were really impressed. We walked in to a completely full bar so we grabbed a table. While we were having a drink, the owner, Dave came over to introduce himself and chatted for a bit( a really nice guy). After a bit a couple of seats opened at the bar so we moved there. We ordered the bacon wrapped water chestnuts and they were great. Taco Tuesday was the special tonight so we both decided on that. I tried all combo of all three, beef, pork and chicken. Personally I loved the pork the best (all were really good) My husband had the chicken and beef. He thought the chicken were fabulous but agreed all were really good.
Heather was our bartender and she was friendly, worked her butt off and offered great suggestions.
We can’t wait to come back and try some other menu items.

This place seems like a very local place. We were hoping for a perch fry that would match our old location that was so awesome but closed due to retirement. The potatoes pancakes, marble rye, coleslaw, tator tots, tarter and cod were awesome. The perch just didn’t make it. Bones and dark not very meaty. It was reasonable priced but we would be willing to pay 18-20 bucks for an upgrade in perch. Wegners did it I don’t know the secret to getting a better grade perch. Our search continues. The rest of the food was great and so was our waitress. My mom used to work here in the 70’s when it was a Hawaiian themed bar. I would help her clean on sundays and do bar prep. She would cocktail waitress at night. I remember it was so much bigger when I was 8.
