We came here after Bonita Bowls. You can find free street parking at night in front of the restaurant as well as the parking garage across the street. I like this place more than Pa Lian because the hours are a lot better. 9 pm is the sweet spot for almost everyday. There were plenty of seating, there were only two other tables besides us. We ordered fried tofu, Burmese mashed potatoes, shan noodle with chicken, and fish chowder soup. Service was attentive but I think he could have cleared our dishes at the end. Prices were fair. Overall, it’s a solid 4.

-fried tofu 3.5 – without the sauce, the fried tofu has no taste. However, I did like how crispy the outside texture was.
-Burmese mashed potatoes 4 – the mashed potatoes taste good when you add some of the chili oil to it. Without the chili oil, it’s not bad.
-shan noodle with chicken 5 – this is the star of the show. There’s a cup of broth that you get with it. You can eat the noodles without the broth. The tomato flavor is more bold, but if you add the broth in the noodles the flavor is more even. You can do it with or without. I added the broth in. I liked how chewy the noodles were. There was a good amount of minced chicken and the ground peanuts added more texture.
-fish chowder soup 5 – the broth is more subtle than the shan noodle. You have different toppings to add in. The soup is still good especially on a cold day,

Burma O’Clock offers 100% authentic dishes with homemade flavors that remind me of my Burmese mother’s cooking! We started with the Burmese fritters, tea leaf salad and ginger salad for appetizers. The batter on the fritters was light and crispy and the sweet & sour tamarind sauce was a perfect balance to the fritters. Both the tea leaf and ginger salads were refreshing and texture-rich. We sampled all the traditional dishes, including Khao Swe, Moh Hinga, Nan Gyi Thoke – all wonderfully rich broth full of authentic flavors: coconut, curry, turmeric, fish sauce paired with very fresh and perfectly cooked (and bouncy) noodles. The beef curry with coconut infused rice was exceptionally tender and fragrant! Of course, we couldn’t resist finishing the wonderful meal with a serving of Falooda for dessert. The owner was so sweet and generous, she gifted us with some complimentary Burmese banana cake. I wish I can give Burma O’Clock more than 5-stars because it exceeds all expectations! It deserves a Michelin star, if not 4! If you’re familiar with Burmese food, you will find Burma O’Clock to be an authentic treasure and a culinary gift for those craving delicious food from the homeland… and if you are a first timer to Burmese food, this is the place to go to take your tastebuds on an unbelievable adventure! Wheaton and the surrounding areas are lucky to have such an authentic restaurant! My 92-year old Burmese father was transported to old memories of Yangon, with every delicious bite! Burma O’Clock is not just authentically delicious food, it’s a culturally rich experience! Thank you, Mra, we can taste your passion in your cooking!
Much success to you for such a fine restaurant!

Happy to have the chance to check this place out. It’s been over a decade since I visited Yangon/Rangoon and so rare to get some authentic Burmese dishes around here. We all agreed the Pork Curry with coconut rice was the best dish on the table tonight. Not spicy, just good complex curry flavor profile with lots of it. The Shan chicken noodle dish was also delicious and delivered unexpected flavor combos. The chicken noodle salad was a good entry level dish and also a hit.
Good service and comfortable setting. Hope we can return soon!

Amazing food, and polite and attentive server, though they were short-staffed. We loved everything we ordered, from the fried tofu appetizer to the shwe taung noodles to the mango sticky rice. Not overly noisy which was nice for us. Absolutely recommend!!

My friends and I love Burmese cuisine, so how lucky for us for another option available in this area!

We tried several dishes and were quite pleased with them. Stand out dishes for us: Tea Leaf salad (flavorful and refreshing), Shan Noodles (savory and full of tomato flavor), and surprisingly the mashed potatoes (fried garlic and chili oil mixed in… so good). Everything else was great too. We liked the spiced tamarind sauce to dip our fried appetizers in.

The restaurant itself is cute and very cozy. Service was very good as well.

I will keep the review at 5 stars, but one area they can improve is the spice level based on customer requests. We did ask for “extra spicy everything”, but apparently they do not spice up your food for you. This was a first for us at this type of establishment. Our poor server had to run back and forth to the kitchen to constantly fetch us more chili oil. I heard the table next to ours complain their food wasn’t spicy enough either and I yelled across to them to ask for chili oil as well. If Burma O’Clock refuses to take spice level requests, then they should keep a container of chili oil on each table so customers don’t have to keep asking for more. I have a feeling they go mild on the spice as they try to navigate the demographics of this area. That’s fair. But if customers are asking for spice, they truly should take it into consideration when creating the dish or at the very least make chili oil easily accessible on each table.

First Burmese cuisine experience. A little pricey for portion size but tasty
Tea leaf salad: tasty
Pork curry: tasty and good texture but a little dry (just wish there was a little bit more sauce for the amount of rice)
Mohinga: tasty and pleasant fish flavor

Decor was nice and everything appeared clean, just 1 small roach in bathroom.

Glad that there is now a 2nd Burmese restaurant in Illinois and again in Wheaton. Beautifully intimate place. My server was super kind. I had the Burmese chicken curry which came out very tender. I should have asked them to turn up on the heat. Can’t wait to try more on the menu!

They’ve recently opened, and the quiet ambiance made it an ideal spot for a focused business lunch. The fritter was perfectly cooked, and the Tea Leaf Salad, though it appeared modest in portion, turned out to be surprisingly filling and flavorful. The menu offers a fair selection of vegetarian options. While they don’t serve beer or wine, I opted for their refreshing green tea. We also tried the Veg Tofu Curry with Jasmine Rice — comforting and satisfying. Interestingly, the samosa made it to their menu as well — a nod to Indian flavors, and clearly a crowd favorite.

I visited this restaurant with my mother on a pleasant evening, and from the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The entrance was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, creating a warm and welcoming ambiance. As soon as we stepped inside, we were greeted promptly and kindly by the staff. This place is truly hidden gem offering authentic Burmese cuisine. We started with the Burmese fritters (Akyaw sone) a perfectly crispy vegetable dish served with a flavorful dipping sauce. I’m usually not a fan of sauces, but this one paired beautifully with the fritters. Every vote was better than the last. We also ordered the fish chowder soup ( Moh Hinga) rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The chicken noodle salad (Nan Gyi Thoke) was another standout, and we were excited to try their newly introduced dish Kyay o sit chat, which was just as delicious. For drinks, I had the grass jelly drink which was refreshing but felt like it was missing a bit of depth. However, Falooda more than made up for it I loved it so much, I ordered another one to go. As we waited for our food, traditional Burmese music played softly in the background, featuring the Burmese arched harp. It added an elegant and cultural touch to the dining experience.
Overall, this was a memorable meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy high quality, authentic Burmese cuisine in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
