The Sausage Plug in Yuma, Arizona isn’t your average hot dog cart, these dogs are for serious food lovers. The owner Joe Alcala has been perfecting his recipes for the past decade.
In desperate need of a protein boost I got a bowl of their chili which comes with beans, meat, onions, shredded cheese, tortilla chip crumble and Alcala’s signature chipotle sauce (for a little kick).
The Chili is hearty and the chipotle sauce has a smooth zing to it. If you’re interested in one of their hot dogs you’re in for a treat. They don’t skimp on the toppings so take your time and savor the taste.
If you’re in Yuma, Arizona or traveling through stop by the Lowes’ parking lot on 32nd Street and 4th Avenue and get your fix.

The food truck is located in the Lowes parking lot (close to the exit near the lumber) The owner is super friendly and the food was prepared quickly. I had 3 orders of the Over the boarder dog and the owner kindly added complimentary bowls of chilli. Let me just say the chilli was OUTSTANDING. It was packed with fresh onions, shredded cheddar cheese and topped with Frito Lay chips and spicy mayo sauce. The over the border dog had crispy thick bacon, delicious sautéed caramelized onions, jalapeños and topped with regular and spicy mayo. It was simply delicious. Comfort food at its finest. I can’t wait to return and try a few more of his menu items.

Was craving a good hot dog and this place popped up in my google search. I’m so happy it did cause it was DELICIOUS. The gentleman that was there that took my order and made my food was so kind and had fantastic customer service. I got the over the border dog with a cup of chilli and a soda (lunch special #2) and it was all so good! That chilli is great you should definitely try it. It had shredded cheese, diced onions, fritos and chipotle sauce-and it was some of the best I’ve ever had. This place is a new favorite! 🙂

This guy is amazing, the food is 10/10 taste profile. Everything is freshly made! He accommodated my odd request of no bun and multiple other no’s. Super friendly, great price, good service and very clean!. Both times now I’ve got the “over the boarder”, I do just the meat, jalapanoes, bacon and cheese though..and it’s fire!
