We had heard about this place when they were operating out of another restaurant and finally got a chance to try it out. Service was mediocre, but they only had 1 person working the front end. We were never offered refills or asked if we wanted something else to drink, but she did get our orders right. We tried the appetizer sampler, a Mushroom Swiss burger, a Dug Out burger, and the Underground Trainwreck burger. For the appetizer sampler, you get to pick any 4 appetizers and we chose fried pickles, pepperjack cheese balls, jalapeño Mac and cheese bites, and southwest chicken bites. They came with ranch and a southwest sauce and each was a good portion for a sampler. The fried pickles were a sweet pickle, which isn’t our favorite, but everything else was really good. Unfortunately, the appetizer were the best part of the meal and the burgers were lacking. We actually tried to order 2 chicken sandwiches with a burger and were told they were out of chicken. The burgers are not what I would consider “smash’d” but just a regular burger that needed more seasoning. If we came back it would probably just be for apps and drinks, but would not recommend the burgers.

Attended a private event here, great atmosphere, wait staff was very friendly and engaged in their work.
Food was delicious, definitely a place to go again…they they are not even finished with their beer wall!! I’d have more pictures of food but it was so good I ate it before remembering to take pics.
Kudos to everyone there, great experience!!

Weekend lunch. Place was slammed when we got there, they had “murder on main” going on. Seemed like a fun group, murder mystery group, dressed like the 1920s or there abouts.
Since they were leaving as we were ordering, I doubt the kitchen was backed up, so food got out fairly fast.
Server was super nice.
Person at our table was very unhappy with the blue cheese salad. Dressing seemed very thin from the looks of it, not creamy as I think of it as. I didn’t see how it was listed on the menu though.
Burgers were good. EKG burgers were great value and good.
Fries and tots could both use work.
Women’s bathroom was out of toilet paper and paper towels, I was told. This could happen after any rush.
Overall, lunch for 3 at $70 bucks seems a bit high, but I’ll be back.
Will update after next trip. I love my main street businesses.

Really enjoyed the food here! Our server was great. We used the free pour option which we enjoyed. We’ll be back this wknd for the live music & drink specials with some friends to try that out. The bath rm coulld use a little attention but all in all a really great place for our 1st experience!

It was a disappointing experience until the food arrived. But let’s break it down.
Food: It was delicious. We ordered burgers, wings, and tater tots. The wings were solid, the burgers were delicious, and the tots were crunchy with proper seasoning. I personally got the burger and it pulled this rating from an overall 3 star to a 4 star. It was fresh, juicy, and well portioned.
Service: I’ve seen too many mentions in their reviews about the service to believe it was a fluke. This place seems to be chronically understaffed. We watched 2 tables get up and leave when it took 10+ minutes for a drink order. I can easily say it isn’t the servers themselves. Our server was good, but stretched extremely thin. She was doing her best to keep it all together, but she only had one other server in the restaurant. The wait for the food bordered between “I’m getting hungry” to “where the hell is our food”. Ultimately: Server 3.5/5 (with 4 or 5 star capabilities) every other aspect 1 or 2 stars
Atmosphere: My wife is a serious Anglophile. She loves everything British. So seeing the sign with the “Underground” logo was an easy sell. There’s nothing British (that we saw from the front half of the restaurant). It’s just a typical sports bar. There is a ROUGH similarity in some of the aesthetics, but it’s loose. Not affecting the total score, but a bit off-putting.

Good burgers, but a bit pricey. However so is everything else in quaint downtown St. Charles. The self-serv beer dispensing machine is worth trying out. One of the employees explained how it works. They tie an RFID card to your credit card. You put the card on a reader, then select the beer you want from some small LED displays, and you are charged by the measured pour. Nearest similar machine is in Chicago. The software came from a vendor. Very interesting and unique.

Sunday at 1pm and the place was full. We were told as we sat down that food would take 20-30 minutes so we were warned. Sure enough the food took 30 minutes and was pretty good for $11 burger. Net is they need a few 2 person tables to allow for better seating. While we waited the staff didn’t bother asking if we needed more to drink. With the limited menu it is hard to understand why a burger would take 30 minutes. The staff was friendly enough. Seems they need more help or better management. Just heard the manager say they are out of burger patties. Lastly we are sitting waiting to pay. Hopefully it’s just a bad day else they need some improvements.

12:30 pm on a Sunday and they got slammed when a bunch of teenage soccer kids and chaperones walked in. We were still treated with smiles and some laughs as the two waitresses tried to cover everyone. Food arrived quickly and was good. Hamburger was hand-patty. Chicken wings were good. Liked the fire honey sauce.

Overall, a decent modern pub. Was surprised by the DIY pours for beer, but actually warned up to it after a couple of drafts (there may be some underlying connection there). Really enjoyed the Third Wheel Sandman red ale, notes of cherry seem to come through after a swallow; really refreshing on a hot summer day.

This recent addition to old Main Street fits right in with good food and service. Small but solid menu. Lots of big screens, so I’m guessing it’s crazy during ballgames.
