My man and I eat at the Burger Shack at least once a week, always through the drive through. We have had a couple of botched orders, bit yesterday, Monday the 1st of March there was a girl in the drive through that deserves a raise and a lot of praise. It was close to closing and she double and triple checked our special order to make sure that it was correct. I was also happily surprised that she knew how to appropriately count back change, and she did it properly without a mistake. I do not know her name but she was the most wonderful and professional person I have seen in a restaurant setting in many years. Kudos and many compliments to that you g woman.!!!!

Excellent Hot fat krinkle cut fries, salted just right… fresh, just the way I like them. Huge burger, all the fixings that were standard with a burger from my childhood. Loved it, priced within reason, but not cheap… however neither are ‘fast’ food joints either. Food cooked to order… love them, will be back often.

How fortuitous that the new owners of this dump have been able to assume all of the goodwill and reviews that 5-Star had when this location was part of that chain. I was a semi-regular customer of this and a few other 5-Star locations, which despite the shabby condition of their restaurants, I regarded the food and service as excellent. Imagine my surprise when the Stockton location changed names and ownership. But, being close to my work, I gave it a try hoping nothing had changed. The front counter help, while polite, assured me nothing had changed. That was misinformation (to be kind).
I ordered my usual, a double cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. It came out fast enough, despite the ridiculous noise level from people in the kitchen yelling at each other in, what I assume, was some Arabic language. Nothing other than the drink looked the same from the 5-Star days, but even that was poured by the front counter guy as they rotated the soda machine so it was no longer self-serve.
First I tried the fries because IMHO that was the best thing 5-Star made with their unique sweet and salty seasoning on them. But these crinkle-cut disasters were unseasoned and flavorless.
On to the burger. It’ smelled funny but I took a bite and immediately thought the meat had no seasoning and something was burnt. I ate about half of it before I disassembled it to investigate further and found the meat had no seasoning whatsoever, was way over cooked, and the bun was scorched (see picture).
Sixteen bucks for this? Never again. I’ll go to 5-Star in Lodi before I ever set foot in “Burger Shack” again. Too bad the 5-Star guys didn’t train you on how to run a burger place after you bought this location out. Another Central Valley institution bites the dust.

Ok here’s the deal….my daughter saw the spot lol and we went in expecting mediocre food while looking at the menu. She says the burgers look a bit dry on the menu. So we ordered the same meal which was double bacon burger meals. And let me tell you the pic does not do any sort of justice for what it actually looks and tastes like. It was fire ppl fries hot seasoned just rt burger juicy great flavor ton of bacon I was shocked. I will return over and over when I’m in town. Thanks Erika for great service.

Tried this place out after church (since our regular one for some reason was still closed) and we were really surprised. Only about five minutes in the drive through. Food was hot, fresh and delicious. Burgers were huge, I couldn’t even finish mine. Fries were hot and super crispy and their special sauce was great too. Only spent about half of what we would have normally spent for the same thing at our regular place. Will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

I ordered a double with no cheese. I was the only ordered at the time and still gave me a double cheese burger. The burger was OK. Gave a 3 out of 5. The special sauce was to salty. I also ordered a ice cream cone. I’ve cream was good. The cone was old .didn’t taste right
