Wait time = 45 Min wait after ordering (to go). Ordered at 2:18 pm, 4 families ahead of us.

Food = Tasted burned and both burgers were overcooked, sloppy, falling apart, soggy buns, fries were bland and drenched in melted cheese.

Ambiance = Nice, good music. It was rainy out but there was plenty of covered areas (with umbrellas) to sit. Cold weather but the outdoor heater was off.

Price = Overpriced for poor quality, poor tasting, falling apart food.

Service = Kind, polite, answered questions.

Would I try it again? Yes because perhaps it was just a bad one off. TBH, quite possibly the worst burger I’ve ever had. I hope next time tastes better.

This place is a vibe for sure.
Read the sign and understand that patience is a virtue when it comes to this chefs food. Its worth the wait.
And if youre waiting a while, chefs wife is yelling at you for free drinks! Love it!

Got a bacon cheeseburger, PB Banana shake, cheesesteak and chicken sandwich to go. Downed the shake during the wait, 10/10. Burger 10/10 Cheesesteak is heavy as advertised, 10/10.
This place is awesome!

We came because Instagram influencers were hyping this place up. We love a good burger, fries and shakes. Since they don’t have combos, we got two cheeseburgers two fries and two shakes. It came out to 55 USD. For that price I was expecting delicious and super juicy, but that was not the experience.. The burger is good but super small! lacks salt and a juicy punch to the mouth. but not better than in-N-Out. Now The fries were delicious. Made with beef tallow which we love and use. Also the vanilla shake was tasty very good! I would be so surprised if it lasted longer than two years with those type of prices when we have so many good burger options in San Diego. Overall nice people, friendly atmosphere. Good luck.

Came out for late lunch to this local spot and it did not disappoint! The people working/serving were so nice and welcoming! So cool that they do this all in their home! Food was delicious! We got some regular fries w dipping sauce, a pizza burger and the BBQ burger! Restaurant quality!! So good!! We paired them with a couple of classic cokes in a glass bottle and it HIT. Looking forward to returning to try more from the menu!!

I was so excited to try this place, and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely amazing, and the cookies and cream milkshake was to die for. The owner was incredibly kind and even brought my dogs out some puppy patties, such a thoughtful touch! I love when a restaurant goes above and beyond, especially for animals. I’ll definitely be back again. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Stopped by here about two weeks ago and had high expectations and let me just say we were blown away at every point! When you first get there you’re greeted by the owners son who is super friendly it was our first time so we were taking a bit to figure out what to eat and he reassured us we were fine and to take our time! The mom stopped by as well and offered us water and even helped us fix the umbrella so we weren’t blasted by the sun.This is an amazing family and you can tell they all have fantastic values and amazing hospitality! As for the food it was absolutely delicious wish I got more photos but we completely demolished our food in minutes! Everything was cooked to perfection Will definitely be stopping by again! So all in all 10/10 ! Thank you for being an amazing part of this community!!

I’m not only giving this place five stars because it’s a very bold move to run a burger place out of your garage I’m also giving it five stars because the food is actually good. I’m not sure what all the haters in the review section are talking about. If it’s busy expect to wait up 30 minutes for your food because you are at somebody’s house not like a full blown restaurant. There’s maybe like three people working total. The bacon cheese fries were probably some of the best that I’ve had. Had the cheese steak which was good, a bit messy though.

If I could give 100 stars I would! These are the realest people you’ve ever met, putting out the bomb-en-est food to support their beautiful family. The hospitality is not only over the top phenomenal, but it’s GENUINE. Support local, support quality, support the Kooks. ✊

I Have Just Been WOW’d!!!

I’m an older San Diego native who has spent a lifetime devouring burgers of every kind, from hole-in-the-wall classics to high-end creations. Trying Burger Kook was genuinely one of the best food decisions I’ve ever made.

Pros:
• Quality that’s on another level.
They use a fine-dining blend of meat you can immediately taste. This isn’t the cheap, mystery-meat patty you get from fast food. It’s rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly.
• Fries made in beef tallow!
 Yes, actual beef tallow, not seed oils. The fries were incredible and had that old-school flavor that modern places forgot existed.
• Everything tastes like real food again.
My entire meal reminded me of the way food used to taste, before shortcuts and cost-cutting became the norm.
• Owners are Amazing!
They make you feel like they have known you forever. Service is like, hello new best friend! If you don’t receive this kind of service, they must be slammed! It did get busy quick while we were there. We waited out front well before they were even open. It was worth the wait.

Cons:
• I ate too much, but that’s completely on me. Portions here are generous, almost dangerous, especially if you suffer from weak portion control like I do. It’s nearly impossible to look at leftovers and not take “just one more bite.” My stomach isn’t upset, it’s simply full past my capacity. Again, my fault… not theirs.

What We Ordered:
My buddy and I went all in, three burgers, each cut in half so we could try multiple. Big shout-out to the staff for happily accommodating the request.
We tried:
* BBQ
* OG KOOK
* OKC
Plus regular fries and the bacon cheese fries.
Everything was phenomenal!

Service & Atmosphere:
The service is not super fast and it’s not supposed to be. It’s even posted on their wall. Their business model cares about what they deliver not how fast it gets there. If you want a quick, cheap drive-thru meal that leaves you with regret, there are plenty of places for that. Burger Kook is something different. Coming here feels like stepping into a modern-day time warp where food is crafted with care and the people are genuinely happy to serve you. It’s personal, it’s warm, and it has that old-school hospitality you didn’t realize you missed or some younger generations never got.

Final Verdict:
I LOVE BURGER KOOK!
It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience, and easily one of the best burger spots in San Diego. I will crave this place from now on and visit often.
